India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

currently india are 58/8 after winning the toss and deciding to bat on a pitch with little bit of grass and results are infront of all to see. :chai: after the first 30mins when they were 2 down, i was thinking wht if india lose 2 wkts / 30mins then they’ll be down to 8 wkts by lunch and so far they have proved me right.

IND 58/8 with just over 25mins left till lunch.

Re: India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

wth just happend... 76 all out within 20 overs? yikes!

Re: India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

INDIA ALL OUT FOR 76 in 20overs, with over 10mins still left in first session of the day. 5fer for steyn. excellent bowling by all the SA bowlers who took full advantage of the pitch and indian batsmen had no answer to their questions. all out for 76 tells a lot about their mind-set.

Re: India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

Indian pitches are of two kinds :

(1) DEAD - as in ZERO HELP for the bowlers.
(2) UNDERPREPARED and SUB-STANDARD - A cemetery for the batsmen.

I am not following the game on TV....but from the looks of things this pitch appears to be of the second kind.

Cricinfo comment :
India proved why they are the Twenty20 champs - bowled out in exactly 20 overs. You lay out featherbeds, you get 500 plus scores at will. You dish out a seaming surface and you get a capitulation inside a session. That's the beauty of Test cricket.

I said about the pitch above....but I will not be surprised if it is just plain old incompetency of Indian batsmen against fiery pace. We will see how the SA innings goes.

Re: India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

Makhaya Ntini to Laxman - behold that sight. The delivery of the innings.

Re: India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

frankly speaking it wasn't as much of a pitch factor but the fast bowling that did the trick for SA. even smith himself had plans to bat first had he won the toss. lucky him that he got to bowl on such a track and getting india out for just 76 in 20 overs. most of the batsmen were not sure whether to come on the front foot or stay glued to their crease. few of them got out by leaving their bats handing in the air to dry [sehwag, gunguli, kumble] and dhoni simply gave his wkt away. laxman was bowled by a beauty. he misjudged the length n line of the ball and let it go only to see his off stump uprooted.

Re: India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

Also, that Steyn delivery to Dravid reminded so close of that one Wasim Akram to Dravid delivery.

A denied plumb LBW appeal (3.1 overs).

Re: India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

76 runs!...india's second lowest score ever!! S.A ruled them!

Re: India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

well SA did pretty well and they started batting only after 20 overs when the wicket was still pretty fresh...so apparently the wicket was not that bad....

Highlights

Re: India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

RP Singh is generally viewed as a containing bowler. Disappointing results in the first test would give a reason to bring in Irfan Pathan as an attacking bowler with Sreesanth. Instead of following the formula South Africa used - pitching the ball up and outside the off-stump - India opened the bowling with no discipline from the bowlers. Just a bunch of half-volleys every over.

Re: India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

No excuses, our old FTBs just got demolished by a good pace attack.

Re: India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

Steyn is looking good. He is troubling everyone with his pace and movement. Lets see if he can maintain that after people get used to him.

Re: India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

One decision taken by Tony Hill
One decision taken by Billy Doctrove

Both did not need a TV reply to see which side of the stumps the ball was hitting. Terrible decisions.

Re: India v South Africa, 2nd Test, Ahmedabad

Lol:D.What can i say .Indians are paying the prize for being over complacent and confident . Hope this help us to think and play in content .
