Wow, I mean I knew India will have a hard time beating England, but this defeat is one for the record books. The guns India trusted to win the game have run out of bullets. They need to start from scratch. This series shows that England is the best team in the world and has been for a while. They were not able to perform to their ability in the WC2011 due to injuries.
Dravid again showed that he is better than Tendulkar and Laxman, probably combined.
England has everything going on for them, bowlers, batsmen fielding everything and don't think a flat track will bother this team.
Agreed with all except bolded. England sure deserves #1 now. They did not before. They climbed up the rankings fairly with good performances, and have taken the #1 spot with a great performance.
This has nothing to do with the WC - different format.

captain dhoni has gone too far trying to defend this performance and staying cool.. i love his spirit and calm headedness.. but this performance calls for some urgency.. perhaps there is urgency behind the doors.. i would expect there to be.. he’s a very intelligent guy imo.

India did ascend to the top spot in Test cricket but they never really proved themselves. India deserved to be #1 for the time they were. Look at the overall stats son, dont be selective.
England deserve to be #1 now.

Quite honestly I never expected India to be this poor on this tour despite their bowling limitations. With the batsmen they had, to lose by an innings at The Oval is unforgivable. Only Dravid showed tremendous fight and character throughout

haha bhai I dont think anyone expected this tour to be this bad.
I am not old enough yet to use jaams to drown sorrows hahah. Jaams are still being used only to enhance good times :)

When I first checked in today, both Tendulkar and Mishra were ~ 80. In 3 balls, Mishra was bowled. So immediately turned off the game.
Just an observation, in addition to Dravid dismissal, there were 2 lbws, including Tendulkar and Raina. Did not see if those were plumb or not, just saying..... Got to concede Tendulkar was out lbw earlier. Just found out maybe he was out twice LBW earlier from ESPNcri.. So I guess no complaints - got flattened fair and square.

uncle jee sorry to disappoint you but he was LBW third time as well...the ball was hitting the top of leg stump...so he would have been declared out had he asked for a review....raina was out as well.....maan jao uncle jee, england nay baaja bija diya team india ka...i know it hurts but the truth is always brutal...

uncle jee sorry to disappoint you but he was LBW third time as well...the ball was hitting the top of leg stump...so he would have been declared out had he asked for a review....raina was out as well.....maan jao uncle jee, england nay baaja bija diya team india ka...i know it hurts but the truth is always brutal...
Pheonixdesi, Maan gaya - England nay baaja baja diya, band baja diya. By far England was better. And it was actually difficult to dislike their players - overall a nice bunch.
This test could have been saved - each additional hour India batted would have made it doubly difficult for England.
But one-day matches are still there. Keep hope alive (as Jesse Jackson would say!)
