Well Everyone knew India at No1 was just a fluke and they are exposed here
Just by winning in Home doesnt make u No1
England FTW
haha exams ne maari hui hai yar.
Fluke? Every reputable cricket expert disagrees with you. India gained points since 2007 by winning in England, doing very well against a faar better than any other team #1 Australia in 08, beating them at home twice in the next 2 years, tying with SA in SA, winning in WI, and yes the beatings to SL and England at home etc etc.
But hey that's all gone. England takes over. SA and India to catch up now.
This only reinforces my faith in the rankings. England has done very well in the last 2 years and by beating the #1 team in this manner, they deserve to take over.. and the rankings will reflect that.

Lol best of Luck bhai
Im not saying that they didnt did well .....But remember in all this years they didnt won a single series outside their home even in SL they tied .....Tied with Windies .....Just Won against a low side WI ........
Their bad performance in this series is all coz of IPL

They won in England and they tied in SA. Losing 1-2 to Australia in 2008 also GAVE them points I believe. And at home they comprehensively beat everyone except SA with whom they tied (any team deserves credit for that, arent we giving credit to England for beating Australia and India at home?).
We all knew India was #1 but not by huge margin like Aus was. The #1 was on the line for 4 series before this (2 vs SA and 2 vs SL) and India managed to win/draw those crucial series and hold on to #1.
You can find dozens of reasons for this performance. IPL.. lack of preperations.. injured players. etc etc. Nothing changes the fact that England has played better. That's it.
But England defeated Aussies at home twice and then again defeated them in Recent Ashes Won in SA .....Though they are bad in subcontinent but still they outplayed India in every aspect of game......Remember if India loses 4-0 they will go to No3 in ranking

The 2005 win doesn't count in the rankings my friend. Either way it followed with the 0-5 rape in Australia, remember?
And they did not win in SA, they drew. Which definitely was an accomplishment for them cuz that was during the early stage of their resurgence. The recent Ashes win down under was the big one. But of course they are so horrible in the subcontinent (vs Pak, Ind and SL all). I don't think subcontinent teams have usually been as bad in England as they have been bad in the subcontinent.
Yup, if India does lose 0-4. they deserve to be dropped to #3. Good job Rankings? ;)

Then why counting India's win against Aussies in India lol........Yeah they have been bad in subcontinent we defeated them in 2005 after they won the Ashes
Now we are gona play against them in UAE next year

O bhai.. india's win vs aussies in India were 2 series both in the last 3 years.. they count..
series from 2005 are 6 years ago and ICC rankings do not account for them !!!!
India is a strong batting side which shines in the suitable conditions 'the most'. Their bowling which is essential in Test cricket is lack luster (has always been traditionally). Their batting brings the opponents so under pressure that their average bowling attack is often able to take 20 wickets due to mammoth totals their batsmen put on the scoreboard.
But with lone star Zaheer out and the aging batting line up who is tired after WC/IPL and seems not even half-focused on alarmingly seaming conditions is resulting in disappointing performances third test in a row. Its like Pakistan without MoYo and Inzi where they are not able to put up a 300+ score. Some individual players are not even showing interest or commitment for a throne-challenging series.
If it were Pakistan or any other countries, there would have been a call for a shake up. But Indian players super star status will not allow any serious questioning for their commitment for a high profile series like this one.
Without finding a real pace attack (even couple of more like Zaheer) in next five years, and given the batting trio of Dravid, Tendz and VVS retiring in that time period, there will be a big question mark on India's future Test team. I know there are more like Ghambir in the pipeline but they have not been given fair chance to be groomed with this trio enough on a consistent basis. We will see more players like Kohli and Dhoni coming in from the nurseries and IPL but there will be no Wall or Tendz for sure who can be consistent on the crease batting three sessions.
