India tour of Bangladesh

**Bangladesh announce ODI squad against India

****DHAKA, April 30: ** Bangladesh have retained Habibul Bashar as skipper and dropped batsman Rajin Saleh from the One-day squad to play visiting India in May.

Bashar’s future had been the subject of speculation after he put in a poor performance at the World Cup in the Caribbean, scoring only 105 runs from nine matches.

Apart from the loss of Rajin, the squad is unchanged from the World Cup side. Bangladesh unexpectedly reached the second round of the Cup after a stunning win over India in the group phase.

Batsman Mohammad Ashraful, who hit 216 runs in nine matches, with a half century against South Africa, has been promoted to vice captain, replacing opener Nafees Iqbal. Nafees made only 31 runs in six matches at the World Cup.

India begin the tour, which includes three One-day matches and two Tests, in Dhaka on May 10.

** Squad: ** Habibul Bashar (captain), Mohammad Ashraful (vice-captain), Javed Omar, Tamim Iqbal, Shahriar Nafees, Aftab Ahmed, Saqibul Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mashrafe Mortaza, Syed Rasel, Mohammad Rafique, Abdur Razzak, Shahadat Hossain, Farhad Reza.

Bangladesh tour will be a challenge: Shastri

** KOLKATA:** As the five-day conditioning camp came to an end at the Eden Gardens here on Sunday, the India cricket team manager, Ravi Shastri, promised to see India returning to winning ways beginning with the series against Bangladesh. India will play three ODIs and two Tests during the 23-day tour.
Shastri, who took charge of the Indian team only for the ensuing series, said the tour would be a challenge. "It will be a challenging tour especially after the World Cup debacle. We will put out our best foot forward,‘’ he told newsmen before the camp wound up on Sunday morning.
"We have a good team for both forms of the game,‘’ Shastri said and pointed out that it was not the time to live in the past. "Forget the past and focus on the present,‘’ he said.

Re: India tour of Bangladesh

Who is showing this tour in the USA?

Re: India tour of Bangladesh

Bangladesh is in full flow. They have recently defeated South Africa and India, both teams were full strength and in must win situation. Bangalis also played well against England. The only thing working against them is inexperienced batting line up. Their batsmen tend to give away their wickets as compared to India who has Dravid and Yuvraj. Their fielding is great and bowlers have the variety. The crowd will be nuts. I think Bangalis will ride their wave of confidence and win the series 2-1.

Re: India tour of Bangladesh

oh…missed that I guess..Thought he quit right after WC…

Re: India tour of Bangladesh

BD should not take India lightly. India can create an upset.

Re: India tour of Bangladesh

I dont think this series would be much of a contest. India was humiliated in the WC, they have faced the media and public backlash at home already. They will go out to win this series as quickly as comprehenivley as possible. Dravid can claim all he wants that this is not a revenge series but India's pride was dented at the World Cup. They wont take these games lightly and win it comfortably. They just need to not get complacent even after winning the series easily. It's only Bangladesh, scoring big against them or taking 5fer's agianst them shouldnt get anyone too over confiedent. the real test would come when they play a more established team. Without taking anything from B.D they are still not in the same league as India.

Tiwary ruled out of one-day series

Manoj Tiwary, who was expected to make his debut in the first one-dayer against Bangladesh, has been ruled out of the one-day series due to a shoulder injury. Tiwary is expected to take the flight back home to Kolkata shortly.
Tiwary hurt himself at the training session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today. Towards the fag end of the session that went on for a bit more than two hours, Tiwary landed awkwardly on his right shoulder, while diving to save a boundary during one of the out-fielding drills. That it was serious showed in the way he didn’t get up to stop the ball that was trickling down towards the boundary.
