India still very good - Spare us the post mortem please !

What dreads me most after any Indian defeat(esp to Pak) is that whichever Indian website I go to…I will be bombarded with all those write-ups about what is wrong with the team and what should have been done..about how Tendu is a selfish batsman blah..blah..blah…

Infact Sehwag is already being compared to Akhtar in boastfullness… he is said to have declared that he would score 200 in this series… …

Sehwag is a very modest person.. I can say this just from his body language…And now Amit Verma writes the following in Cricinfo to prove it:

Say, Sehwag is at one of these numerous interminable press conferences and someone asks him, “so would you like to get 200 in a one-day innings, Virender?” He replies, honestly, that yes, of course he would. The next day, the newspapers all headline, “Sehwag aiming for 200”. From then on he repeatedly gets asked about it, and every additional statement he makes (like a casual “yes, I think I can do it” when asked if he is capable of it) adds to the media hype. It seems like hubris to the reader, who is led to believe that Sehwag has set himself the pre-season aim of making 200 in an innings, but poor Sehwag may have no such goal in mind. *

The only error India has made in the series is to come without an extra batsman , needlessly picking Patel…who is no great shakes with the gloves too…

Other than that…INDIA IS GOOD and I dont intend to be a fair-weather fan !! GO INDIA…

You are right. India is a very good team and one bad tournament does not mean it has suddenly become a weak team. Sachin is class, even though I failed to understand his tactics today. I think if he had played his normal game he might have taken India closer to 300 let alone 240. Still an off day at the office. We had one few days ago against SL. Looking at our team today no one could have said that this is the same team that lost so badly to SL a few days ago. The big test will come on tuesday and how India bounces back from this defeat and keeps focused on the job in hand.

India are a class team...although I hope they get stuffed on Tuesday.

Balaji looked off form with the ball and they were shambolic in the field today. My view is that Harbajhan like Pakistan's Saqi is no longer a threat, and I would look to replace him with either a better spinner or get Zaheer in.

I totally agree with you except for Tendulkar part. He has become aasshole .A typical Bombay player always playing for himself.
I am yet to find a situation where he could win India a match from a very bad situation. It is easy thing to come open the bat with 15 over limitations and blast the bowler.

None the less. India is a class team and 2nd only to Aussies and I am sure we will beat SL in next match. Both the matches we lost is mainly due to the one stupidity of selectors.

yeah sachin confused all of us today. he was batting too slow. it made some sense when ganguly, dravid and yuvi were batting with him but once yuvi was gone, i had no doubt that he would step up to keep the momentum. but surprisingly, he used to take a single at the first ball of every over and let kaif and later pathan to play rest of the over.....he did not even try once to go for 300...very negative attitude...

and now it reminds me of dravid....remember when india were 94/4 against pak in 4th one day match at lahore and india were chasing 294 under lights....i was damn sure that pak will win the match but dravid was simply awesome....he rotated the strike, accelerated whenever needed, guided yuvi and kaif and finally took india home in 47th over....it was simply awesome..today tendulkar faced the exact same challange but he totally failed and then in end, he played a stupid shot to get himself out before making sure india reach 241.....india barely made to 241.......
so i have no idea what tendulakr was up to..thanks god he is not in pakistan team or otherwise by now, pakis would have suspected him for matchfixing......

Well, I dont have such radical views about Tendulkar. Though I will never forgive him (not in my lifetime) for gifting the match to Pak in the Madras test in the last Indo-Pak test series in India.

However I have found a welcome change in Indian batting pattern of late .... and that is that the innings does not just collapse if the top order fails or if 2-3 wickets falls quickly at the start......this was not the case in the days of Azharuddin etc.

As far as today's match is concerned, I think the turning point was Dravid falling cheaply....additional pressure brought about his downfall took a toll on the run rate...otherwise 300 was very gettable....

Anyways, no ifs and buts, let just hope India become more consistent.

read this stupid article and see how these journalist can twist the whole story…his first sentence is simply mind boggling

“Sachin Tendulkar took India close to a famous victory, But could not help his team overcome the massive 301 victory target set by Pakistan in the crucial Super League match of the Asia Cup cricket tournament here today.”

Excuse me…sachin brought close to a famous victory?..give me a break…

and then later he says:

“Left as the only batsmen left in the battleground, and with only a longish tail, made up of Irfan Pathan L Balaji, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh and Ashish Nehra, left to assist him, Sachin showed why he is still considered a match winner, despite the team’s overall loss.”

yeah right…today he showed what a great match winner he is…well, no doubt his class but today he was off color and this reporter is totally mis-reporting with no respect for his profession…

What a pathetic article. The Indian media never ceases to amaze. One feature from Times of India called Five Reasons Why Pakistan Will Lose is now changed to Five Reasons India Lost :rotfl:

Another thing, they seem to think that victory against SL is guaranteed just because they lost two matches and are now “due” for a win. Well SL might have something to say about that.

What pisses me more than anything else...is the "analysis" done by mediocre ex-players. Only morons must read what they have to say.
