Delhi, Jan 12: The percentage of malnourished children in India is much higher than the nations in the Sub-Sahara Africa, said a UNICEF official.
According to a survey by the Health Ministry, backed by the UNICEF, the number of undernourished children below the age of three in the country has increased in some states despite a rise in per capita income and robust economic growth.
Werner Schultink, the nutrition and child development chief for UNICEF in India, said the results of the latest survey was “disappointed”, as India is lagging behind even the poverty-stricken Sub-Sahara Africa.
