You have forgotten a key factor that is moulding china's foreign policy. Its no longer as isolated on international stage as it was couple of decades ago. Rather now it is someone everyone looks to.
Niden, trade with India even under the present restricted conditions is heavily in favour of India. So is with china. Instead of going ahead with MFN status to india, we need to restrict some of chinese imports that are affceting the local industry.
$3 billions of goods cross over borders between India and Pakistan illegally. If this is made legal, Pakistan governmentcan can earn some revenue on this illegal trade. I still prefer India over China or anyother country in the world. Pakistan Railway is about to collapse at any time. Help from India in this regard might save this cheap and most used mode of transport by poor people of Pakistan. Again free trade with India requires trust and sanity.

Totally sensible comment and exactly! it's really easy for some here to talk when they're sitting hundreds of miles away in the comfort AC tummies full but those people that are the victims are mostly the poor, lower middle class that already couldn't afford many amenities and now with floods, homes lost, they're in even more hell :-(.

That's about half the entire aid amount being offered now- from all countries, including the United States and China.

You think there are still no people in the United States that starve while its government spends trillions of dollars on foreign wars? Or people in China, while its government spends millions of dollars on African aid projects?
Don't parade your ignorance. There is something called a contingency fund: part of a nation's forex reserves, untouched, even while the rest of a nation grapples with poverty.
India today is doing far better in dealing with its poverty. Read the World Bank report on how nearly half the millions of people that have been alleviated from dire world poverty in the last decade have been from India, with the rest being from China and a marginal portion from African countries.
A lot is changing and a lot has.
Also, I think it a little**** foolish ****to be bashing India on poverty, when your only saving grace is the fact that you have a far smaller population.
