That’s correct. India offered Pakistan $500 million in 2005.

You think there are still no people in the United States that starve while its government spends trillions of dollars on foreign wars? Or people in China, while its government spends millions of dollars on African aid projects?

Don’t parade your ignorance. There is something called a contingency fund: part of a nation’s forex reserves, untouched, even while the rest of a nation grapples with poverty.

India today is doing far better in dealing with its poverty. Read the World Bank report on how nearly half the millions of people that have been alleviated from dire world poverty in the last decade have been from India, with the rest being from China and a marginal portion from African countries.

A lot is changing and a lot has.

Also, I think it a little**** foolish ****to be bashing India on poverty, when your only saving grace is the fact that you have a far smaller population.

I won’t berate the point. But aid need not be made a question of one’s ego. Were we confronted with a situation of such magnitude, we’d’ve been happy to provide an opportunity for your magnanimity.

1. please don’t bring US/China/Santa in this discussion even for comparasion you are talking two opposite ends of the spectrum.

2. $0.5B or 500 million USD is your gem, your govts. or media?

3. They say Charity starts at home and then see if the folloing makes sense in the context of this discussion which of course is lot of hot air.
