India’s prehistoric mathematical astronomers had mapped space as early as 7 BC without the aid of telescopes, rockets and space vehicles. While most of these texts are yet to be juxtaposed with the modern space idiom, it would be interesting to see as to how the Italian scientists fare with modern implements.

Re: India puts Italian satellite in space...
cool !!!!!!!!!!!
Re: India puts Italian satellite in space...
Indeed, this is a landmark achievement, since it puts India in the lucrative market of commercial launches.....this market is estimated at more than 1.2 billion dollars a year.
With India's low cost launching compared to European, Russian and American space agencies, I think ISRO has a very good chance here to bag more and more such payloads in future.
This will help in making ISRO less reliable on government funding.
Now looking forward for moon mission, Chandrayan-1 expected in 2008.:)

A detailed video of this launch–showing entire ground flight tracking from Italian Agile website.
