India is eager to push forwards a proposed pipeline to carry gas from Iran via Pakistan despite USopposition to the project, said Indian Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar Wednesday.

"India will be pursuing all the pipeline proposals discussed during my trip," said Aiyar who has just come back from a tour to Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Iran, quoted by Indo-Asian News Service.

These will include the proposed pipeline project to Pakistan and the one from Turkmenistan via Afghanistan and Pakistan to India.

Aiyar said the whole issue of US concerns over the Iran pipeline was being unduly dwelt on.

Describing his trip to conclude deals to import five million tons of gas as "very successful," Aiyar said that he is looking forwards to consolidating the gains and pushing forward the project.
