I must admit, i’m surprised by this. We all know that already many, many forced marriages happen on daily basis in Hindustan but I had no idea that Hindu children hated their elders so much that their Governement has come up with draconion laws against them. Anyhow, I don’t think anyone should be forced into anything.

i’d say this is a good thing since parents dont have old homes there (the govenment cant afford it anyways)…maybe they should do this in pakistan too

NEW DELHI: India’s government hopes to pass a law that will force children to take care of their elderly parents, a news report said Saturday.

The Old Persons Bill will “compel the progeny to perform the responsibilities which they have towards their parents in their old age,” The Times of India newspaper said, quoting from the bill’s provisions. If both houses of Parliament pass the legislation, it will pave the way for tribunals and set a six-month deadline for judges to try such cases, the newspaper said.

It said the bill will be brought before the legislature this year, but did not specify a date.

India’s traditional family structure has been breaking up, with changing social mores and the advent of retirement homes across the country. ap

I think this law should be implimented. There is no need to be sharminda for this stuff.
This helps a great deal.. in improving the life of old parents.. who are left alone to fend for themselves in their old age. This is particularly disturbing in cities. I think one way the govt can do this is by reducing taxes on people who take care of their parents. At least they should do it for Govt employs in the country.
