**The Indian police have launched an investigation into the recovery of a firecracker in the cargo hold of a commercial airplane on Sunday.**The fire cracker wrapped in a newspaper was detected on a Kingfisher airline flight at Trivandrum airport in southern Kerala state.
The flight with 27 passengers had arrived from Bangalore.
Police say the firecracker may have been placed at Bangalore where the luggage was loaded.
The police said they were questioning ground staff and luggage loaders at Trivandrum and Bangalore.
Security is usually tight at Indian airports. Many airport officials have described Sunday’s incident as a “major security lapse”.
