I think this is a good read, if rather long but interesting nonetheless. The paper discusses everything from army statistcis to missile ranges and war doctrines of the two nations and is also quiet up to data.
One intersting bit that I’ve pulled out ;
“• The Kashmir Scenario and Asymmetric Warfare
Kashmir offers Pakistan a number of advantages in asymmetric warfare as well as a political relief value for
nationalists and Islamic extremists. The terrain makes it extremely difficult to seal off borders and conduct
counterinsurgency operations. Some Indian military feel it takes a manpower superiority of 30-50:1 to secure given
areas. The population is divided but generally favors the Pakistanis and Islamists.”
I hope a few of you will read through the document and be willing to discuss some of it.

I just read India is getting Phalcon early warning systems from Israel - What does that accomplish?
It will enable India to monitor the theatre of operations better. Basically, an advanced airborne radar like the Phalcon will enable the IAF to be aware of the exact location, spead, bearing and height of any aircract present within an extremely large radius (hundreds upon hundred of miles) of the place carrying the radar.
The bad news is that emitting that much radar energy enables the plane carrying the Phalcon to be easily traced.
What it means is that one of the first air battles seen should there (God forbid) be another Indo-Pak war will be Pakistani planes attempting to break through the Indian planes defending the Phalcon carrier to try and take it down.
Unless the Phalcon is downed, Pakistan will be incapable of launching air strikes without India receiving advanced warning of the impending airstrike.
Pakistan is attempting to source similar equipment, from Brazil and from Sweden. Previous efforts have been thwarted by the US arms embargo, but with the embargo lifeted the issue is now getting a sweet enough and affordable deal.
If both Pakistan and India get airborne radars, the very nature of the Indo-Pak air balance will be changed. Airborne radars revolutionise aerial warfare.

^ It is foolish and irresponsible to think of missiles as laughing matter. Such bravado in adolescense is what leads to wars when grown up
Its laughing matter for us indeed, when the mightly indians are reduced to weaklings, after they realize that nukes will fall on calcutta, delhi, if they initiate a full time panga with Pak.

Indeed..
Death is not funny, and you think India will sit there while nuked? You think Islamabad, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore will be safe. Whilst you are deluded in the fantasy the Indians are stupid and weak I beg you to give a thought to the thousands that will not be laughing.
You know......-the dead ones.
Heavy casulties will result on both sides. Alot of people will die. Both countries will be destroyed....sorry, but personally I don't see where anyone apart from the arms providers would gain anything.
Lets get over the indo-pak thing. Death is death and people are people, no matter what side the line they originate or what passport they carry.
Personally I am a pakistani, but as a human being, the idea of suffering sadens me.
Hey Thap...
I browsed through it and didnt see anymention of the F-16s we have...

Their value is overstated. They are going to end up principally being used as bombers.
