Hockey: Pakistan beat arch-rival India
INCHEON: Pakistan beat arch-rival India in a thrilling group ‘A’ match of the Asian Games 2014 here at Seonhak Hockey Stadium of South Korea Thursday.
Pakistan’s Umar Bhutta and Mohammad Waqas scored one goal each to defeat India 2-1.
This is Pakistan’s third consecutive win of the event that cemented its place into semifinal.
Pakistan have beat Sri Lank 14-0 and China 2-0.
When match started, both the teams were seen in full swing. Pakistan got 1st penalty corner in 7th minute of 1st half, but green shirts missed this chance.
After two minutes, India also got the chance on penalty corner but green shirts saved its goal post.
1st and 2nd half were level with 0-0, but in third half Pakistan bounced back to get lead when Umar Bhutta scored a field goal in half’s 7th minute. This half ended on green shirts’ 1-0 lead.
Last half were crucial when India hit on Pakistan post back to back. The Blue Shirts took the edge when Indian player scored a goal in 8th minute, and did game level by 1-1.
Pakistan’s Muhammad Waqas converted a pass into the score, getting lead for his team 2-1.
It was India’s 8th overall defeat against Pakistan in Asian events.
Pakistan will play against Oman on Saturday

Yes they have been successful in avoiding Korea in semi final but they may go lacklustre against Malaysia!
