idiots. Offering to sterilize people for TVs or a car (the Tata Nano) is targeting the poor.

Not only is this idea stupid, it’s insulting. this a pr strategy for a car maker whose product is incredibly crappy and has failed to sell outside of their country. :smack:

especially in up and bihar, this states have bulk of the indian population.

up alone has population of 20 crore.whats the use in bringning new life and making him suffer cruelty of this world. when you can't even feed your own stomach

instead of cars they should be offered some money,once they get settled in life,they can adopt a kid,there are lot of orphans in blue cross and other orphanage homes who would love to have parents :)

While the idea looks ridiculous it may actually work. In louisiana we had shoes for guns and people even brought bazooka rocket launchers to get a free pair of shoes.

BTW Title of this news item is totally misleading. Its not India that is giving away "Cars" rather it is a local state govt which is giving away just one car, and there will be a lucky draw for it.

gender ration is poor only in rich states and among rich people poor states and poor families have good gender ratio. though problem tht you mentioned is serious but it is still not that dangerous. but this certainly proves that education cannot change people's mindset

For a change, the good doctor is off-track. As pointed out by Deeba and Kaka, one car and 5 motor cycles as part of a lottery draw will not contribute significantly to pollution. The payoff is significant reduction in population, with a measurable and significant reduction in carbon footprint. I do not see anything sinisiter, stupid or silly here.

I do not know about the hand radio - may be true. I do know her son Sanjay Gandhi was responsile for forcible sterilization, especially of poor people.
