As of I know During 1988-1989, Pakistan ordered 28 F-16 Jet fighters from United States. But united states withheld delivery to Pakistan because of Pakistans nuclear weapons program and refusing to sign Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. It is inspite of Pakisan paying US govt for f-16s.
Now Pakistan is USAs “Frontline” ally. But look at what BBC is reporting. USa is volunteering to provide F-16s to India. Recently Mushy also pleaded with USA about F-16s. But his request was never granted but his sworn enemy is offered these fighter planes. DOnt you think Pakistan’s isolation is complete.
US aviation firm Lockheed Martin has offered to replace India’s unreliable MiG-21 fighter jets with F-16s as the battle heats up for Indian defence contracts.
Lockheed said it would build F-16s and C-130 cargo planes in India given an “economically viable” deal.
The offers came ahead of a visit to India this week by French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, who will discuss a deal to supply Mirage-2000 jets instead.
"If India wants to lease used F-16s from the United States Government, then we can extend supply and technological support and if India wants one F-16 for four of its MiG-21s, then we can make it here,‘’ Mr Plessas said.

Lots of problems with muslim world are the result of thinkings of people like you.
If USA and India are kaffirs then what about Chinese ???
Coming back to subject it is just a proposal. it may not materialise also. Lockheed Martin will annonce anything without the knowledge of USA Govt. I think USA is using it as a tool to extract something from Pakistan. It is too bad for Pakistanis as Kasuri just came back from USA and we hear this news from media.
Lockheed Martin would have first evaluate to see if India is willing to buy the F-16s. If so, they will get their lobbyists on Capitol Hill to start lobbying the US Congress and President.
The decision on whether or not to go ahead will lie with the US government. The company has some influence, but the US govt has the right to stop the sale.
Rifak, remember that US aerospace companies are independent of the government. It is not the USA offering to sell these planes to India, thus trying to extract something from Pakistan. It is an independent company trying to make money.
Remember that in the 1980s Lockheed Martin tried to make money by selling large numbers of F-16s to Pakistan, but were foiled by the US's embargo on military sales after just a few units were delivered.
There is a clear distinction between corporate America and the US government. Lockheed wants to sell F-16s to India for the same reason as Procter & Gamble wants to sell Head & Shoulders shampoo to India - to boost the company's profits and share price.
It just so happens that exports of the goods that Lockheed Martin deals in are restricted by the US government.
Incidentally, note what is actually occuring. If the USA's official position was to offer the jets to India, the US government would offer to lease its planes, or sell existing ones.
Instead, what Lockheed Martin are saying is that if India approaches the US government, it would offer support for planes sold. It has also said it is willing to manufacture in India.
What you are seeing is the actions of an independent industrial corporation looking for ways to raise profits, rather than the US government applying pressure.
anyone who thinks that any of these nations could ever mediate the problems between India and Pakistan lives in a fool’s paradise..
This is just one of the many reasons why Indians and Pakistanis should wake up and smell the coffee.. they are being taken for a ride by their leaders.. there is poverty everywhere but the governments can’t buy enough weapons ..
