India mired in utter ineptitude and corruption.
ISLAMABAD, Dec 26 (APP): The lack of knowledge and understanding of Indian bureaucrats, peppered with arrogance and a masterful ability to stall and procrastinate have allowed the country to dissolve into a state of utter ineptitude and corruption, says an article in Indian daily The Telegraph on Tuesday.
Crores of rupees have been doled out over the decades for actions, but the incompetence of the ‘babus’, particularly their subservience to the political masters, has led India into a knotted mess, the article says.
The endless law enforcement Indian agencies too have reached levels of incompetence and impropriety. India is in a in a situation that is not much different from a banana republic. Its armed forces are also being sullied by increasing examples of deviation from the law book, the article notes.
The article says: “Education systems that force the “yes/no” answers, produce vast masses of unthinking, non-reading, and robot-like men and women with limited general knowledge who, nevertheless, attain positions of power to determine right and wrong, who are ill-equipped to interpret changing economic, social, cultural and political realities, and who finally reduce society into anarchy.”
Re: India mired in utter ineptitude and corruption
For all their problems, if I had to make a guess as to who would be able to make the most improvements in the social and political field over the short term, it would be India...
Indias problems are always tinged with optamism, while Pakistans problems seem to be hopless... Ask any Indian about his confidence in his country and compare that to the common cynical Pakistani and you can get a clear understanding of this.
Re: India mired in utter ineptitude and corruption
Maybe, but I didnt say I was basing this on any scientific and thorough survey…
From personal experience, most Pakistanis have little confidence in the country, at best they will be indifferent or will have a wait and see attitude. The rich and affluent seem to not share this mindset.
Most Indians you meet in contrast seem to be shining with optamism…
I happen to be a wait and see person, but im cautiously optamistic.
Re: India mired in utter ineptitude and corruption
I have plenty of Indian friends and they don't portray India any different from how I see Pakistan. There is so much more common than there is different.
Indians have just started to see the effects of open economy and the sparkle and the glitter it brings with it. In Pakistan, we have had open economy for as long as I know. For most Indians, Esteem (Suzuki Margalla) used to be the pinnacle of driving experience up to the recent past.
Also Indians don't have a good knowledge about the situation inside Pakistan. They think they know. The living conditions in Pakistan are still better than what they have in India. This is coming directly from the community who has visited both India and Pakistan.
Re: India mired in utter ineptitude and corruption
Well, India has a much higher GDP per capita and is ranked better in the Human Development Index and also in the rankings of "World's Happiest Citizens"
Re: India mired in utter ineptitude and corruption
Well said. While India is ahead in every area, literacy rate, health, etc, Pakistan continues to fall behind, temporarily sustained by the US, using Pak for the war on 'terror'.
Articles like above are used by Pakistani's who want to feel better about the sad state of Pakistan, but bear no relation to reality.
Re: India mired in utter ineptitude and corruption
if you had spoken to a english speaking educated indian, then he will say this. If you ask someone else, i really doubt it would be positive. Let me say something about much hyped city in india, Bangalore. these americans are familiar with that name:D ...I am from a city close to bangalore. One side of bangalore is developed but the other side is exactly opposite...when i say opposite, it is OPPOSITE. You will find people living in dire poverty, living in slums and all. atleast pakistan has done better i guess as far as preventing growth of slums are concerned.
It seems one American, after hearing so much about bangalore decided to go there as a tourist. When he came here, he was shocked at what he found. Severe traffic congestion, poverty, miserable internet connection(so much for silicon valley!).....and politicians in bangalore are corrupt. Bangalore attracted MNC's for its good weather(which is polluted now) and labour available, not because of politicians hard work. This topic is correct, India indeed is struggling in ineptitude and corruption. But there are some politicians and organizations who are honest, atleast to an extent. that is why, things are running i guess.
Re: India mired in utter ineptitude and corruption
I think the real difference between India and Pakistan (even BD and Sri Lanka to some extent) are only marginal. All came of the same British built buerocracy, all have serious conflicts between legacy culture and modernity and all have IMO too many chasing too few. Difference is what direction of change is each moving on? How rapidly are they moving on? Is it a broadbased move or highly polarized?
My (unscientific) impression is BD is not moving, Pakistan is moving very slowly in the right direction but being led by unsustainable leadership, India is moving in the right direction but not (yet) broadbased enough...Srilanka seems to have done it right but for the Tamil issue.
Re: India mired in utter ineptitude and corruption
All things considered, Pakistan hasnt done toooo bad since independance… Take out the many black spots in its short history and you might even say that pakistan is relative success considering the basket case region it was when it was first formed… Although im sure some would still call it that…
Re: India mired in utter ineptitude and corruption
WitchDr.
India is far ahead in the human development index, has a much less %age of population below poverty line, much higher ppi, much faster rate of growth, much higher share in the global trade market,...the list goes on. Almost every economist today agrees that India will be an economic superpower of the 21st century. Even cautious estimates like that of Goldman Sachs have clearly indicated that India will be the world's third largest economy by 2050. In every aspect an economist would consider in deciding the strength of an economy, India fares better- I am not saying that Pakistan can not do this.
Re: India mired in utter ineptitude and corruption
450 million Indians are above poverty line. That's higher than the population of USA, UK, Russia, Australia, combined. So 450 mn people live a good life. The remaining 550 million are utterly poor labourers or below PL. So the average per capita income, average human development index, etc. is brought down by these people. Well now the government cannot kill them. So to improve all these averages, population control is the only way. Otherwise 20-30 years from now we shall see a familar story :-650-700 million middle-class Indians and 600 million poor or those living BPL.

Let's blame the British
Angrezon par ilzaam lagane se koi fayada nahin. Our destiny is to be determined by us. But it is a fact that wherever Brits went, they created rifts in the society.
Re: India mired in utter ineptitude and corruption
India got ahead of Pakistan during the 90's when Pakistan was going throu low growth and poor economic conditions... Pakistan has for most of its existance been ahead of India in more t.hen a few areas, but it has fallen behind due to the lost decade.
I think Pak can catch up again, it just needs time and sustained and focused growth
