What is definition of failure?
Normally when you do not accomplish what you set out to do, that is failure.
What happens when you do not set out to accomplish anything?
You start justifying your existence in terms of others - their faults, how the world mistreated you etc.
When people are not motivated by themselves and don't even get shamed into positive action, what results is. Useless whining, wailing and chestbeating (such as some posts above, m2k's being one).
