Hi Guys,
Why is that People in Pakistan seem to disliking everything that happens in India. India is making economic progress inspite of various challenges it faces like poverty, illiteracy, corruption, social inequalities, natural calamities et al.
Almost all the headlines in this blog start with a negative note!!! Why can't you guys get rid of your attitude of animosity towards India or is it because you have been brought up on hate material in your school.
I admit we don't have a perfect democracy but a flawed democracy is better than having no democracy at all!
What is the scene in Pakistan...Army, ISI and Mullahs continue to rule this country. There are umpteen states within the state of Pakistan. History of Pakistan is replete with coups and coups. Mushy has been promising elections ever since he seized power after he kicked out Nawaz whom he would have hanged but for US intervention.
My dear brothers and sisters.....take unbiased and quality education to every nook and corner of you country if you really wan't to improve your lot and learn to keep religion under the mattress else you will continue to live in middle ages .

I suppose it 50 odd years of animosity where we have genrally been the losers tends to be the catlyst for all of it. Pakistanis are willing to look past the problems and resolve all outstanding issues seperating the two, but Indias prime objective seems to be to continue the stated position which itself increases tension and mistrust among Pakistanis.

I think this ranking is just pure BS. Economist is just using European standard to judge other countries’ political system. They just think India and other Asian countries need to become welfare states like most European countries. Those Europeans need to think about how to compete jobs with Asian countries instead of making those stupid rankings.

You are right..Just watch Europe 10 years down the line. They will find it difficult to sustain the lavish lifestyles they have at the moment.
Globalisation no longer is a one way traffic. Asians although termed as polychronic people have brilliant brains and if we all bury the religious and faith oriented hatchets..we can once again be a prosperous and vibrant society we were millennia ago.
An eye for an eye will simply make us all blind. The world needs to be beautiful.

where as our democratically elected leaders were responsible for taking the Economy on the brink of being declared default
We need to build up social, policial institutions to monitor our elected officials and only then can democracy work otherwise it will be abused by anyone who comes to power
India was lucky as the bulk of the social institutions were located in India when the British left while we had to build ours up

Deomcracy and muslims are two different things! The only deomcractic muslim country is Malaysia! And to some extent Turkey! Bangalesh is fastly turning deomcratic! These are all non-arabs!
Pakistanis share a lot from arabs! Arabs can never be democratic! Pakistan was created only because Muslims did not want to be ruled by Hindus in modern deomcracy! It was not created for Islam!
You know in democracy you can permit homosexuality if the majority vote for the same! But in Islam, it can not be allowed! So deomcracy and Muslims are two different things.

India is going to become a world power within this century! Muslims have no chance of revival at least for next two hundred years! (given their present state of affairs)!

Not really, Muslim 'democracy' can vote to follow Quran/Sharia and that no rules against Quran/Sharia will be allowed, in that case no homosexuality will become permissible.

Democracy is more than just 'voting'. If the people vote to have a theocracy, it is still a theocracy.

^ agree that democracy is more than 'voting', so if a population wants to make sure that consitution/laws do not oppose their religious values (or moral values based on religion) would that be called 'theocracy'?

Isn't that why voting is just one aspect of democracy? Constitution, Balance of Power etc have to necessarily be present for democracy to exist.
