i didn't like her acting that much...then again, i haven't even heard of Shilpa Navakar who won the most promising New actress...

Do as Roman when on gupshup :p

DM, I just feel sorry for her. Maybe she is right, Hrithik Roshan did overshadow her in the film thanks to his Papa Jee.

Kairee (Raw Mango) is a Marathi/Hindi film by Amol Palekar and is not a Commercial film which has Shilpa Navalkar playing the role of Young girl.
http://www.sulekha.com/cgi-bin/moviereview.cgi?movie=kairee

In Kairee directed by Amol Palekar and adapted by him from G.A.Kulkarni’s short story, it is the young (eleven years old) Yogita Deshmukh’s performance as the little girl growing up in her aunt’s house, that is the secret to the film’s success. At the premiere of the film at the Tata theatre, Palekar spoke of how Kulkarni’s story had a little boy as its protagonist, while he had changed this to a little girl. He didn’t seem to think it was a major change, but I think it changed the tone, treatment and entire meaning of the film, and it was a successful change.

Several talented actors made their debut in the film, including the utterly unassuming Yogita. There was also Shilpa Navalkar as Taani-mausi, with her quicksilver smile and her expressive eyes. The late Mohan Gokhale gave a fine portrayal of the unlikeable Bhau-Rao, Taani-Mausi’s debauched husband. A lovely camera that does not miss the colourful possibilities in village scenes - the goat in the bus; the coloured bottles lined up on a shelf; the branches of tall trees; the feathers of a peacock. Palekar handles, sensitively and tangentially, issues of the girl child; the need, especially for girls, to go to school; and the problems of teaching and demotivated teachers in the schools. Surely Palekar’s coup de grace is that he changed the central character from that of a little boy to a little girl - it makes all the difference, in the school scenes and also in the message it would send, in the subtle and yet fierce urging of taani-mausi to her neice to study hard, become somebody, achieve something, be independent. We see all-too-many propagandist films blaring loud advice about going to school and so on, but this is a film that should definitely touch the hearts of parents, teachers and children alike. One small crib: the last few minutes of the film, showing the girl now grown up as a famous writer (lovely, subtle Sonali Kulkarni in a wasted cameo), were unexpectedly tacky, given the sensitivity of the rest of the film, and could have been kept out altogether.

just a small correction, attack was not for painting gods and goddesses but for painting them naked.
