India has firm orders to launch 12 foreign satellites over the next few years,
Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation K Radhakrishnan said today.
He said ISRO has so far launched 26 foreign satellites by the home-grown Polar
Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). “We have today about 12 satellites..a firm order
is there and scheduled to be launched in the coming two years,” he told
reporters. ISRO officials said these satellites were mainly Canadian, German and
Indonesian, including a 800-kg spacecraft – environment monitoring satellite –
from DLF Germany. Others mainly fall in the 40-100 kg category though there
are some micro-satellites also that India would launch. Officials of the space
agency would not talk about price-points for these launches, terming them to be
“market-sensitive”. But market sources say launching one kg of payload would
cost around USD 20,000. Asked if the controversial Antrix-Devas deal (Antrix is
the marketing arm of ISRO) had an impact on ISRO in terms of “pull-back” on
launches of foreign satellites from Indian soil, Radhakrishnan replied in negative.
“We do not think (that there is an impact). There is a very strong demand for
launching a few of the world-class remote sensing satellites by (India’s) PSLV”,he said.
Re: India has firm orders to launch 12 foreign satellites
One area india has done well :)
Re: India has firm orders to launch 12 foreign satellites
One thing, Russians were and still are quite good in.
So the Russian technology is not that bad after all, eh?
Re: India has firm orders to launch 12 foreign satellites
^^
I feel sour grapes from you :D
Btw india is making launcher pod( pslv) for nasa

Btw india is making launcher pod( pslv) for nasa
As I said, Russian space technology is way advance compare to NASA.
NASA is asking Russians for help now and then. The international space station is just one of many examples.
And Russians massive help in Indian space program is no secret.
Re: India has firm orders to launch 12 foreign satellites
^^
Then why does all this countries ask india instead of russia :)
There are few things hard to accept for you.there may be many bad things going on in india.but india has done few right things like IIT/IIMs this institutions are product of isro today.
btw sri hari kota isro space center is just 60km from my native place.i have many friends who are studying there it's just world class , those days of help from ussr are gone. There may be few collabrations like any other country does.isro are self sufficient to launch on their own.it has done 26 satellite for foreign countries
Re: India has firm orders to launch 12 foreign satellites
Also who told you russian space technology way advance then american.
Nasa alone spends 100billion per year on it's space program, reason why india is making launcher pods is because of cheaper cost
Re: India has firm orders to launch 12 foreign satellites
Here from WikiPedia about Russian assistance for Space program, give credit where due man. Russians are helping you, you should be grateful for that and not take credit away:
Space](Outer space - Wikipedia)* is another key sector of cooperation between the two countries. During President *Vladimir Putin](Vladimir Putin - Wikipedia)'s visit to India in December 2004, two space-related bilateral agreements were signed viz. Inter-Governmental umbrella Agreement on cooperation in the outer space for peaceful purposes and the Inter Space Agency Agreement on cooperation in the Russian satellite navigation system “GLONASS”. Subsequently a number of follow-up agreements on GLONASS have been signed. In November 2007, the two countries have signed an agreement on joint lunar exploration. These space cooperation programmes are under implementation. Chandrayaan-2](Chandrayaan-2 - Wikipedia) is a joint lunar exploration mission proposed by the Indian Space Research Organisation](ISRO - Wikipedia) (ISRO) and the Russian Federal Space Agency](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Federal_Space_Agency) (RKA) and has a projected cost of 425 crore (US$90 million). The mission, proposed to be launched in 2013 by a Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle](Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle - Wikipedia) (GSLV) launch vehicle, includes a lunar orbiter and a rover made in India as well as one lander built by Russia.
Re: India has firm orders to launch 12 foreign satellites
^^
As i said collebration.
it has nothing to with indians building their own satellites. they make get few inputs here and there, isro have launched so many satellites in last few years, now they are gettings deals for othet countries, making launcher pods for nasa itself is huge achievement.we have to give them credit.
Re: India has firm orders to launch 12 foreign satellites
India is doing quite well in the field of space sciences, mainly because of plenty of money & foreign expertise from Russians in past and now from EU & Americans.
Re: India has firm orders to launch 12 foreign satellites
Any details/links on how much money India is receiving from EU/Americans? I suspect these monies are mainly contract funds that any conintry would pay the other for work done. I could be wrong.
As for the wiki article, it is a collaboration. Par for the course.
