From 1st of April 2010 every child in India from age 6 to 14 has a right to education. But, will the country be able to provide the necessary infrastrcture…or it may become a joke of 1st April…
The Right to Education Act came into force today with Doordarshan telecasting the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s address to the nation announcing the operationalisation of the Act. The law envisions to provide free and compulsory education for all children between 6 and 14 years of age.
In his address to the nation Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced the Right to Education becoming a fundamental right. He said that the Government of India pledges to provide education to every child in India. The PM said, “Right to Education Act will realize the dreams of many children across the nation.” Adding that education is the key to progress and will empower children to become better citizens of the nation.
Manmohan Singh called upon state governments and teachers to join the effort, adding that parents and guardians have a major role to play too. He said, “Centre and the States wll work to make this Act a success.”
There are approximately 92 lakh out of school children in the country.
Ummm.. Doesnt Pakistan already have this law in its constitution?!?!
The Constitution of Pakistan framed in 1973 promised to its citizens in Article
37 (b) & (c) that “the State shall remove illiteracy and provide free and compulsory
secondary education within the minimum possible period; make technical
and professional education generally available and higher education equally accessible
to all on the basis of merit”.
As I wrote earlier in this thread, first let them provide proper toilets to their masses. Then maybe after that they may consider other lofty ideas like providing education to all…
As for right now, just having a toilet in their home is something like a huge “status symbol” in India. So much so that they even take pictures of their children with toilets - Perhaps hoping that others would become jealous after seeing that!
So this my dear friends is the real state of affairs in India, education tau duur ki baat hai! This picture too is also not intended as a joke, so please don’t laugh after seeing it.
All southern states of India have above 80% literacy, Kerala, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands attained literacy above 95%, there is trouble with Bihar, UP, Rajasthan, and few other parts of nation, it’s a long road to travel, and its our another ‘tryst with destiny’. If every petrol outlet in country can be standardized, then why not education? What Indians
need is will to suceed
First concentrate on providing basic toilets to your masses (see video posted in this thread), then focus on loftier goals like education... As the original poster himself wrote: "will the country be able to provide the necessary infrastrcture....or it may become a joke of 1st April?".

why bring in unnecessary garbage, why cant people be happy for something the govt is trying to do for its common people, whether they succeed or not, whether there are other problems or not does not matter, does it?
and why does sharing of a fact like Pakistan has similar law..regardless of how well or poorly its implemented get reactions for dissing Pakistan.

Im just shocked by the fact that there are actual Pakistanis who are gushing over this great development from India, and wonder why Pakistan doesnt do something similar?!?!
LOL... Pakistan created a similar law in 1973 consitution! Genius! Its amazing how little Pakistanis actualy know of their own constitution.
