India duo banned from match >>>>

India’s cricket board has refiused batsmen Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh permission to play in a charity match in memory of former England player Ben Hollioake.

**The duo, both currently playing county cricket, had been invited to join players from Pakistan in an Asia v Rest of the World game at Arundel on 9 August for the Ben Hollioake Memorial Trust.

“Kaif and Yuvraj were invited to play but we asked them not to participate because we normally don’t encourage these types of games,” the Reuters news agency quoted an unnamed official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as saying. **

“There are several benefit matches for Indian players pending and so it’s not logical for them to be playing away from their country in a charity game.”

Drafted in by Yorkshire as an injury replacement in May, Yuvraj was last week dropped from the Championship side after a run of poor form.

Kaif, also a late replacement for Derbyshire, will have played four months of non-stop cricket with the Championship’s bottom side before rejoining India for a home series against New Zealand in September.

**The ruling prompted speculation that it was due to the Indian government’s ban on most matches against Pakistan because of a political row over the disputed territory of Kashmir. ** :k: true!!!

Hollioake, who played for defending county champions Surrey, died tragically in a car crash in April last year.

these indians are so hypocritical they talk about wanting 2 BUILD BRIDGES between the 2 nations but then they take this step and given the fact its a charity match the indian cricket board has no respect watsoever for the deceased… ben hollioake :mad2:

What an infinitly stupid decision. They won'nt even let there guys play on a team in a memorial match for a deceased player just because there are Pakistanis on the team. That is really sick.
This does'nt create much of a possibility of India playing in Pakistan next year.

Bunch of cowards.

Errrr..That looks like an over-reactoion fellas..But I dont blame you guys, I also thought that BCCI has gone nuts. But now I think BCCI is doing right thing. Not very long ago ICC had banned Saqlain Mushtaq from using this Ben Hollioake Fund logo on his Bat. Now If ICC can do it why cant BCCI ?

What is this Ben Hollioake fund for ?? I think its just a way to get rich by Adam and cash on the death of his brother Ben.

Who was Ben Hollioake ?? An less than average player who wont even get a chance to play in Local Tournament in India/Pak. What has he done for Indian cricket or BCCI ? Their players like Ian Botham refused to visit India because the place was not good enough for them, now why do they need Indian players for some stupid fund.

yawn talk about something new kya fursoda news le kar beth jatay ho yar.

Asif_k, has no respect for humanity.
Be it a world class or below avg player, he was an active young player who died a tragic death, and should have been paid tribute.
BTW - the money is not going to nor his brother or his family.
I think the indians are once again showing the coward self to the world, I wonder what will happen if something unkindly happens to an Indian player.
And what does Ian Botham’s actions has to do with Hollioake’s death.
Sick person indeed. :yukh: :nook:

Umair316 - dont give your crap about Humanity to me. You are nothing but a hypocrite loser, Just on the other thread in Shor Sharaba you were laughing at the death of of an Indian Actor. So stop shedding your crocodile tears. If you are such a humanatarian then why not go there and give your life to the Ben Hollioake Fund. How much money you have donated to that fund ??

There are lot of players who have died tragic death, such as Raman Lamba who was hit on a Cricket Field and died because of it, I dont see any tribute being paide to him by any player. Hansie Cronje Died in a pance Crash too, no tribute for him either, why ?

Is the ICC cruel too, just because they Banned Saqlain mushtaq from using Ben Hollioake's name on his BAT.

Ben Hollioake died more than a year ago and tributes have been paid to him, more than he deserved as a cricketer. Personally I think Adam and his family is trying very hard to cash on Ben's death. If you think Otherwise, Please go and devote your life to their fund.
