NEW DELHI: Indian external affairs minister, Pranab Mukherjee Friday pressed Pakistan to launch action against terrorists instead of asking for evidence.
Talking to media, he said: “We have informed Pakistan’s friends that those responsible for Mumbai carnage came from Pakistan”. This issue demands continued focus and attention on priority basis, he added.
He termed his talks with his Saudi counterpart as fruitful.
The Saudi foreign minister agreed with the Indian view that Mumbai attacks must be seen in the context of global wave of terrorism and dealt with under international war against terror.
Re: India demands Pak to act against terrorists; not ask for evidence
If India starts providing evidence, their own 'kartoots' come out in the open. For instance, the guy who provided cell phones to these rakhi wearing alcohol drinking, abercrombie gunmen was an Indian military or police person according to BBC. Remember Samjhota express, how come India failed to provide proof after accusing Pakistan? Because it was their own guy who did it!

"guess what? we dont have any evidence but we know its you"
that is not a very strong argument to make, is it?

Is India building an international coalition?
There was a international affairs discussion this morning with students including some from several countries (actually of origin from several countries) of South Asia. One of the interesting points brought up was that whule the George W Bush administration was soundly criticized for jumping into attacks in Iraq without fully building a international coalition, India seems to be doing that systematically. After getting USA, UK and Germany to their side, it appears now they have started the middle-eastern majors (Saudi Arabia and Iran) as well. With a UN Security Council resolution passed which has compelled the Government of Pakistan to take internal actions that are presumably incurring heavy political and social penalties, the pressure on Pakistan which is struggling for survival on the economic front as well as in the law order situation.
Prof.M.Geddes's opinion is that the pressure will either reflect in escalation of tensions with India or in yet another military takeover (it won't really be a coup det'at since in Pakistan, military rule many a times actually enjoys popularity). He believes the recent public reversals of public stands and statements made by President A.Zardar and leader of opposition Mr.N,Sharieff (former prime minister) are clear indications that the military is clearly increasing its presence felt inside the government and in foreign policy.
The conclusion was that while it might be too much of a loss of face for the Government of Pakistan to follow the letter of international demands and within timelines, they have shown willingness to act per requirements in spirit, for example conducting raids of arrests of certain powerful and popular terrorists organizations. The international community can expect better results by pursuading the angry Indians not to precipitate matters or escalate the war of words, but rather allow time for Pakistan to take action without being seen as under Indian or American pressure. Like with N.Korea, working through China and Iran may have results, with the addition of Saudi Arabis.

Waise ustaad manNa parta hay, it was a huge flop. Even indian media has realized it. Now matter how the twist and rotate, in heart of their heart they know it has flopped big time. LOL
