India recognises Tibet as part of Chinese territory
In the first-ever joint declaration of Principles of Relations and Comprehensive Cooperation signed by Prime Minster Atal Behari Vajpayee and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao, India recognised that the Tibetan Autonomous Region is part of the territory of the People’s Republic of China.
Thats true India got nothing in return even Sikkim is still a dispute but now that will be next on the agenda. I think its a good move by Vajoo look at it this way. In last 50 odd years India could not do anyting except home to Tibetan refugees including Dalai Lama for which it got the bomb and nuclear tech from the west. Beside the chances of Tibet breaking away with the help of US/UK are billion to one. I wonder if Dalai Lama was even told about all this
both claim large mass of land as thiers but still it is negotiable
The border between China and India is about 2,000 kilometers, which is divided into the eastern, middle and western sectors. The disputed areas are about 125,000 square kilometers, about 90,000 square kilometers in the eastern sector, about 2,000 square kilometers in the middle sector and about 33,000 square kilometers the western sector. At present, India controls the whole eastern and middle sectors.
i pity the tibetians they always relied on a spineless support
my heart goes out to the tibetians never mind they will do well if they make peace with the chinese
nobody cares two hoots about this..sadly enough..
( when I say nobody I mean the man on the streets)
there would be hue and cry among the so called intellectuals..with the passage of time even that will be forgotten..
IMHO a reversal in policy ( that too a 50 year old stance ) is a kind of adaption to the changing environs....
^ I agree. THis is the reality on the ground. There is no need to adhere to foolish promises or policies made fifty years ago. India has the right attitude. Fifty year old issues have no relelvance in the current climes.

Okay how is it an insult to Indians ?? I dont think many Indians give a damn about Tibbet or Taiwan.
Sikkim is still an Indian state, Dalai Lama is still going to lead his govt in exile from India like before.
