Pakistan team refused to tour India not once but at least 3 times between 1991 & 1995 and in 1996 they came to India only to play the World Cup QF (Which they were so sure of Winning

My Point is Vajpayee Govt ,despite being a Pro Hindu party , was very sincere in improving relation between the two countries since it took power in Delhi and we all witnessed the 'Bus trip' to Lahore and then BJP govt going out of its way to salvage the 1998 tour (I can get you the Surkhiyans from newspapers). But Pakistan govt. took advantage of this and responded with very Hostile steps, which we can discuss in detail on Politics forum If you want to.
Indian govt has understood that, there is no point in being sincere with those who are ruling Pakistan now. Sports and Politics cant be separated. I am not against India playing Pakistan, but I leave that decision to our elected govt and I support their stand.

I actually stand corrected. I thought I had read explicit warnings of death threats to Paki playaz during that series but couldn't find anything when I did the search. All I could find was threat of breaking the paki playaz legs and something about releasing poisonous snakes into the grounds. So Asif, you're right. Since I didn't find anything, you get the benefit of the doubt and I take back that comment about killing the playaz.

Listen dude, all that talk about who went where on what to make peace is a cop out of an excuse to justify why India shouldn't play Pakistan, or vice versa for that matter. All the while India tells Pakistan to look beyond Kashmir as core issue and talk about something else to soften the relations, it tells its playaz to boycott Pakistan. Meaning lets bring up othher issues and then boycott them as you please. Ya'nee kay chat bhi meri or pat bhi merii. I just have this problem with people trying to play that holier than thou BS when they themselves are scumbags when it comes to dealing with issues.
The biggest factor that can bring Pakistan and India together and make them sit together is cricket. Nothing else arouses as much passion and comradery among the masses as the game of cricket. Leaders know it and want to use it to stroke the nationalism in the wrong direction.
