NEW YORK, Sept 25: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has pledged to resolve the water dispute with Pakistan in the spirit of the Indus Water Treaty.
The 1960 treaty distributes the water of Indus and its tributaries between India and Pakistan and provides a mechanism for resolving water disputes.
After a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday, Mr Singh invited Pakistan’s water commissioner to visit India in October to inspect the controversial Baglihar Dam project over the Chenab River.

I think this is good opportunity to bring peace in the Indian sub-continent. If India is holding water away from Pakistan then we can work out a deal whereby Pakistan stops the cross-border firing etc in Kashmir and other areas if they want water from India. I mean it sounds like paying blackmail but what to do? Pakistan is not going to stop bothering India unless we make them an offer that cannot be refused
I have a better idea. Why not order air strikes on all Dams in India territory and blow up all dams that are hoarding water? Our air force an do it you know. Smile!

Here is what we need to do now:
1) Resolve water crises by engaging in direct talk with India.
2) Defense pack with China, signed formal treaties with China that China will defend Pakistan from any future attack.
3) Use ex-president Musharraff as a defense adviser and government diplomat to reach out countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Malaysia and Indonesia to help out with Economy. Musharraff maybe unpopular in Pakistan but outside pakistan he is known as moderate with liberal, progressive leader, someone who fought against corruption and allowed democratic process to return to Pakistan .
4) Build a massive border fence on Pakistan/Afghanistan border. Block Taliban and Drug dealer to cross into Pakistan.
5) strategic partnership with China, Russia and Iran.
6) More smaller provinces, FATA and Balochistan should be broken into smaller provinces.
7) Deal with Tribal leader to open school, and change madaris curriculum and use more modern curriculum which will teach children math and science also.
8) More school and college/universites in tribal/FATA/Blochistan areas.
Pakistan need to change its priorities.. going reverse 8, 7,.. will do great for the nation..

I'd think it would need BOTH balls and bombs to do it... I can't think of how "balls" can do the damage to dams :)

damaging dams will be disaster for pakistan as well, as river will flood pakistani cities...
be sensible, bomb is not solution for everything...

So what are the updates? When is india going to admit its' violation of Indus treaty and when is Pakistan getting back the water india stole?

I blv it has more to do with AAZ becoming water-less so he doesn't think too much about Chenab's water.

NEW DELHI: India will not block Chenab River water to Pakistan, Indian National Security Advisor MK Narayanan said in an interview aired on Sunday. Talking to NDTV, he said Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari held ‘a very good’ meeting in New York last month. Noting that Chenab water was raised in the meeting, he said the Indian prime minister was clear on the matter that India would not block Chenab water. “India does not want a conflict on the issue,” he said. Narayanan said India wants to carry forward the peace process and does not want it to derail. Singh opened the first phase of the Baglihar Dam power project on the Chenab River on Friday, and said India had addressed Pakistan’s concerns. To a question, he said India would deal with whoever is in power in Pakistan. The Indian official said the Joint Anti-terrorism Mechanism had not ‘worked well’ so far but “at least both sides are listening to each other”. Referring to the recent bombings in India and the Orissa communal violence, he said Bajrang Dal is a dangerous organisation. “There is a need to deal with it effectively.” app
