Left-handed batsman Yuvraj Singh scored his first test century to lead India back into contention against Pakistan, on the opening day of the second cricket test in Lahore, Pakistan.
Singh, 23, scored 112 runs off 129 balls Monday, to help India post 287 in its first innings, and recover from Pakistan paceman Umar Gul’s first five-wicket haul.
The 20-year-old seam bowler claimed the wickets of some India’s top batsmen after Rahul Dravid won the toss and elected to bat first. Gul was one of four changes to the Pakistan squad from the opening test, which India won by an innings.
Pakistan finished the day at 61 for one. Imran Farhat was batting on 25 while Yasir Hameed was unbeaten on four.
