India and China

India and China. Two ancient civilisations, two emerging superpowers with lots of history behind — and between — them. But when Chinese premier Wen Jiabao kicked off his trip to India by flying into Bangalore rather than Delhi on Saturday, it was clear that history was the last thing on his mind.

Re: India and China

All the more reason why Pakistan needs a pragmatic leadership that maintains good relations with both countries. As the West gets priced out over the next 10-15 years, it is a good opportunity for Pakistan to play catch-up. Pakistan has suffered from arrested development since 1977 (when Zia took power), and subsequent leaders have done nothing for its progress. This is the right time to change, as traditional, rigid alliances do not matter any more...why is China bothering to talk to India otherwise.

Re: India and China

China has entered India from every corner.

India and China Are Poised to Share Defining Moment

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/04/10/international/asia/10asia.html

Chinese-made toys, toasters and televisions have proliferated across the Indian marketplace. On any given day, a shopper at Chandni Chowk market in Delhi can pick up a Ganesha idol, or electric versions of the traditional oil lamps,or water pistols used to splash passers-by during the spring festival of Holi - all made in China.

Re: India and China

^ India still enjoys a trade surplus with china. as long as China is growing, India will continue to do so.

India is in a pretty sweet position. West will look to counterweight to CHina, Japan will re-channel investments from China, while US helps with tech transfer and FDI. Europe will be a thir rate place in less than two generations as US removes its security umbrella and the Europeans find themselves trying to forge an identity and keep the fundo muslims at bay.

Century of the Kaffirs..baby.. :nuch:

Re: India and China

^^ You most probably got that (trade balance favoring India) from the BBC article on the trade ties between the two countries…However you conveniently left out a little detail preceding that sweeping statement:

“India’s bilateral trade with China touched $13.6bn last year with the balance of trade reportedly favouring Delhi”

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/4425831.stm

This is from a website known to have a Indian bias and knowing how Chinese goods get dumped/smuggled to many countries in the thrid world…I will take that surplus bit with a huge ttheyla of salt…

Re: India and China

CheGueverra, now BBC is pro-Indian? :smack:

Chalo..let’s say India has a trade deficit with China…who the fk cares? They cna balance it out iwth the trade surplus with the US or with Pakistan.

Re: India and China

Apparently you do....thats why you thought it was important to misreport it....

Re: India and China

No, it is not a misreporting. Underground economy is just that underground...until it becomes above ground....blackmarkets and dumping has been goin gon for hundreds of years around the world no big deal....in India the dumping of chinese goods doesn't even come close to the trade surplus.

we can debate how much salt until then...let BBC do what it does and you concentrate on figuring out the coming banking crisis in china. I will even give you some food for thought.

NPA's in chinese State owned banks are around $600 B. think about this for a while..an dcome back to me about what that means to this rising dragon.

Re: India and China

Why do i feel that China is getting too much involved in world politics all of a sudden. Communist Congress decision on Taiwan and now the problem with Japan is getting her into problems i suppose.

Re: India and China

China has cornered India from all sides by becoming too close with India's neighbors. China already has Nepal, Myanmar under it's control. It has Pakistan as its ally and now working on Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Brahma Chellaney is Professor of Strategic Studies at New Delhi's Centre For Policy Research.

He says that autocratic China is far more robustly focused on strategic advantage than India's sprawling democracy where quick decisions are as rare as consensus.

BRAHMA CHELLANEY: India is therefore always behind China and this is most apparent in both the figures on economic growth rates in India and China with China far ahead of India and also in the level of defence spending.

For a whole decade the Indians put on hold their military modernisation and they've allowed their defence spending to decrease as a percentage of the GDP over the last 17 years, while the Chinese in the same period have sharply accelerated their defence spending because they know that military might is critical to building leverage to advancing economic interests. They have a more comprehensive view both of security and of power, while the Indians are more prone to a self-righteous worldview.

**
In Pakistan, China's "all-weather" friend, Wen inaugurated the Chinese-built Gwadar port and naval base, close to Pakistan's border with Iran. Gwadar, one of the world's largest deep-sea ports, will not only arm Pakistan with critical strategic depth against a 1971-style Indian attempt to bottle up its navy, but it will also open the way to the arrival of Chinese submarines in India's backyard, completing India's strategic encirclement by Beijing.

Re: India and China

^ not to make light of this encirclement stuff....but didn't all that kind of lose meaning with icbms?

Anyway, let's take that seriously for a moment - so they have nepal & myanmar and working on BD and Sri Lanka? and that makes it encirclement?

and don't forget, China is the one released the kargil tapes to India.

Re: India and China

a new news to me

Don't revive a thread so old unless there is an “update” to be made.

CheGuvera vbmenu_register(“postmenu_3209155”, true); concentrating on anything other than running down India every chance he gets? Not going to happen bro.
