This is obviously very disappointing news for India, who had hoped that China had forgotten about this territory.

This whole area has no population thats why it was never considered to be that much serious like Kashmir issue. Ofcourse, for India, getting the atomic power wasn't for Pakistan only - it was for China mainly.
I'm not sure but I think China too has some control on some areas that actually do belong to India - I need to find it out.
India has no guts to fight/argue with China. US won't help them either in this case so I see China taking full control of all this disputed area. :)

I agree with you, otherwise, China will become your friend. Let the border claim as it is. If India settled it by loosening up, China will become your friend.

Chinese have become the biggest bania's of the world. To them everything is about trade and they won't let anything upset that.
This border claim is just a way to make a bargaining chip for future negotiations. The chinese are worried and angry about the nuclear deal between USA & India and worried about the growing military co-operation.
The trade between India-China is in the billions of dollars and they are not going to let anything upset that.
Not too mention that both countries are nuclear powers and both countries are smart enough.

Arunachal pradesh population is more then J & K population and it is part of india, my uncle works there and everything is indian administration and there are no militants like in kashmir and it is the most peaceful and very beutiful state among North East, when you ask Arunachal pradesh guy what is his nationality he says he is indian and not chinese , if anyone want to speak with a Arunachal pradesh guy letme know i have lot of friends and i have been there manytimes
Main languages spoken in the state are Assamese, Bengali and Hindi. and not chineese, slowly china recognises Arunacahla pradesh as it does with Sikkim

india is digging itself into alot of trouble by not having favorable relations with its neighbors. first it was pakistan, then china, and most recently bangladesh and now china again. and btw kataria the Indian China trade is very minimal and not that big at all, india is not even in the top 5 trade partners of china, even though india the second largest population(and onto becomign the most populous country in the world very soon) in the world. If the trade b/w china and india was to be disrupted, china woudl suffer very minmal losses but india would take the hit very hard.

Actually I guess the territory disputes between India and China can only end once Tibet gets independence from China. Till that time, just verbal negotiations will continue.
Actually China has also alienated Buddhists, because the actual Lama is the Dalai Lama, (and all the world's Buddhists know that) who is presently in India along with thousands of his Tibetan followers.
Now he is banned in China, as he advocates Tibetan independence from China.
So to counter that, China has propped up its own "Lama". Now this person owes alleigance to China, but his authority is not considered by Buddhists.

They are defenitely capable but wont risk it. Unless there is world war china will not get into any kind of military conflict with anybody. If it was the case then taiwan would have been chinese long time back.

OOo I don't think anyone should mess with China cuz they will destroy anyone who does. And don't let your patriotism get in the way with logical thinking, China could do lots of things without much effort, but they are smart enough to become friendly with nations, instead of being hated and being forced to invade.

Chinese are smart people, They did not touch Hong Kong or Macau either when they could have just walked over and spanked the Brits and Portugeese left and right… They won’t touch Taiwan because they know it ain’t going anywhere.

The chinese have been threatening Taiwan since ages, it's because of USA, that China has restrained itself.
Chinese army has crushed all forms of dissent within the country - whether they were Muslims, Democrats or Folong Gong practitioners. They make rule's such as one child policy, vacate lands/homes- if required by government, special permits to come from rural areas to cities, etc - no freedom of action nor words, no rights whatsoever-just follow the party line.
Here in Australia, we have many Chinese who hate the present communist party and fear for their lives if they returned to China.
The only reason you never hear bad things about China is because the Chinese Government controls the press, radio and TV.

Thats what I am saying. They will not risk a war. Their growth will be crumbled if there is a war.
Afridi, India is not threatening china with aggression. The scenario discussed here is the other way round. Here a chinese ambassdor said something about Arunachal.
