Independent Pakistani/Iranian production making waves at World festivals

Man Push Cart](Man Push Cart (2005) - IMDb) is the name of the film. It’s directed by an Iranian called Ramin Behrani and stars a Pakistani Ahmed Razvi as the lead character. About a Pakistani rockstar who somehow ends up pushing coffee-carts in NYC!

And the list for accolades for the films is amazing, considering it’s only begun its round of the festival circuit…

FIPRESCI International Critics Award, 49th London Film Festival

Special mention of Jury at 54th International Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg

Best Actor (Ahmad Razvi) at 46th Thessaloniki International Film Festival

Audience Award at 46th Thessaloniki International Film Festival

The critics are heaping this film with praise, and it’s been selected for the Sundance Film Festival 2006 – the ultimate festival for any independent film, an achievement in itself really as they are VERY selective about the films which are to be screened.

The official site for the film is pretty informative. The trailer looks quite interesting. See it for yourself!
