Khail Khilari Presents: Tribute to Pakistani Sports Legends
To celebrate Pakistan’s independence day with all of GupShup, Khail Khilari is proud to present a tribute video to the greatest legends of sports in Pakistan history. We would like to thank all our members for their contribution to this forum and holding this place in a very high regard.
Tribute to Pakistani Sports Legends, the video consists of a reflection on the lives of people who are nationally and internationally recognized for their efforts in persisting and the determination of bringing the name of Pakistan into the light and writing it in the history books for their next generations to remember them by.

– Adam Khan**Representing Pakistan, he is a British racing driver, having been a part of A1 Grand Prix series. In his career, he has been selected as the driver for the Pakistani A1 Team for Grand Prix. He has pledged to wear the flag of Pakistan in his races, and has been officially appointed as the Ambassador for motor sports in Pakistan. Adam Khan was awarded a young achievers award by the President of Pakistan in London on September 29, 2006.
– Aisamul Haq QureshiAisamul Haq is a professional tennis player. He has been nominated as Pakistani Number 1, Asian Singles Number 3 and Asian Doubles Number 6. He has led Pakistan’s Davis Cup campaign and took Pakistan to the World Group Play-Offs for the first time in 2005.
– Aslam Bholu, Nasir Bholu and Ghulam BholuThe Bholu family is a part of the infamous group of athletes whose bread and butter revolved around knocking down the teeth of their opponents down their throat. They wrestled in an era and made freestyle wrestling popular throughout the country. Aslam Pehalwaan, 4th son of Indian wrestling legend Imam Baksh, excelled in Greco-Roman wrestling and freestyle wrestling. He was the champion of Punjab and his signature move was the Boston Crab.
Nasir Bholu was a world class and the most popular third generation Pakistani wrestler. He was a professional wrestler during the 1980s. Mostly wrestled in Pakistan and the Middle East, he is publicly known as the son of the former Pakistani Wrestling Champion.
Gamaa Pehalwaan nurtured his skills and sharpened his foreign wrestling style which resulted in a marked decline in opponents. One of the greatest champions ever to grace the mat, Gamaa retired from professional wrestling by 1940, following a career that spanned more than 3 decades.
– Carla KhanCarla Khan’s first tournament was at the prestigious British Open in 1999. She achieved her highest ranking of 21 when she defeated World number 1, Nicol David. Her highlight of the career includes winning three titles, El Salvador Open 2002, Ottawa Open 2003 and the Pakistan Open 2005.
– Mohammad YousufIn his early days during the mid 1960s, Mohammad Yousuf worked as a newspaper vendor at a stall in Saddar area of Karachi, earning Rs 3 a day. In his career, he has won the World Amateur and the Asian titles, established a record of 11 wins in national championships with seven victories in a row from 1987 to 1993.
– Nazir SabirOriginally from Hunza Valley, he is an internationally recognized high-altitude mountaineer. He has climbed four of the five 8000m peaks in Pakistan including a demanding new route on the world’s second highest peak, K2. He is the first Pakistani who climbed Mount Everest. In 1982, Nazir was awarded the President’s Medal for Pride of Performance for outstanding achievements in mountaineering. In his list of accolades, he has been awarded the highest honors, Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan.
– Zia MahmoodZia Mahmood is a famous Pakistani Bridge player. He has been awarded ACBL Player of the Year 1991, 1996, 2000 and 2005. He has been a part of the winning Mott-Smith Trophy in 1991 and 1996 and also Lou Herman trophy in 2005. He is a World Bridge Federation and American Contract Bridge League Grand Life Master and one of the world’s leading bridge players and personalities.
