– Hanif Mohammad
-
Famous for his immaculate defence and never hitting the ball in the air, played the longest innings in Test history - his 970-minute 337 against West Indies in Bridgetown in 1957-58.
-
“He bats according to the calendar not the clock” - Press Quote.
-
Omar Qureshi on Hanif’s career “I would select Hanif so long as he can still stand up”.
– Abdul Qadir
-
An original that is Abdul Qadir, Pakistan’s wizard of spin. Abdul the Bulbul was a name he traded under. Abdul, master of legspin, aka Googly.
-
A deeply principled, vastly talented, an intensely dedicated man.
-
“I’m proud that I revived an art”…
-
“Legspin became like a love affair with me like you would have with a woman. I used to sleep with the ball by my side at night” - Abdul Qadir
– Mudassar Nazar
-
Mudassar Nazar scores century, then Imran rips through Indians - 12/25/1982.
-
“Then there was that dark horse with the golden arm Mudassar Nazar” - Trevor Bailey.
– Javed Miandad
-
Javed learned his craft as a youngster on the tough, blue-collar streets of Karachi, and not surprisingly his technique flew in the face of most cricket coaching textbooks. In spite of this, his unorthodox but distinctive square-on batting stance and equally unconventional split-handed grip never hindered him.
-
Javed sits amongst the elite cricket club of batsman of his era to maintain an average of above 50. His legacy is shared by the most accomplished batsman of his era, which is also known as the era of deadly fast bowling.
-
Javed was also referred to as the “Golden Wicket” with regards to his long innings that he would bat. Getting him out in a test match would be a real achievement for many of his opponents. He was also found to be the best batsman ever against spin bowling and would pioneer and master the “sweep” and “reverse sweep” shot, which later not many batsman played as well as he.
-
Javed was amongst the three Pakistani players to have his name at the hall of fame at Lords others included Hanif Muhammnad & Imran Khan.
– Saeed Anwar
-
A man of majestic timing and placement.
-
Graceful strokeplay, master of minimal footwork and electrifying start.
– Inzamam ul Haq
-
Broke Javed Miandad’s record of 23 test centuries.
-
A calm giant, held the fort of a batting pillar for Pakistan.
-
Looks like a mountain, scores like a river.
– Wasim Akram
-
A dream cricketer. At his best, Wasim Akram played like most of us would wish to. He hits like a kicking horse.
-
“He is one of the finest cricketers of this continent. And like Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar are icons of Indian cricket, similarly Imran Khan and Wasim Akram are icons” - Sr. cricket journalist.
– Waqar Younis
-
Borewala Bomber, a nightmare for any batsman.
-
Bucked for 1980s trend of pitching fast and short by pitching fast and full.
-
The man who really put the reverse into swing.
