One of my students and her sibling were force-fed various supplements all throughout their childhood to combat their short genes. Here are the results:

Improvements in nutrition and vitamins surely help I think. But don't forget also - in the past generation, many other things were added to the food supply. Hormones fed to animals to make them grow bigger and faster for example. This also impacts growth esp of children. We're seeing children reach puberty at much younger ages this generation compared to my generation.

exercise! we're all fairly short people, standard pakistani height i guess you could say, but my younger brother is 5'10. what i'm assuming is, he came to canada when he was quite young and benefited the most from the food and fresh air and all the running around in school and out of it. my older bro and i were already grown up when we came here so unfortunately we'd reached full height. but then i just compensated for it by marrying someone really tall! :p
I've heard that exercise helps one tiny bit...stretching exercise, that is

people here r not focusing on the exersice atoll.
putting kids in martial arts classes really helps em grow taller.
