okay so im doing a paper for my sociology class about an increase of divorce rate among pakistanis and i need to get some statistics and legit information. anyone care to help..please?! im having writers block before even starting my paper lol

not sure...but it is artificially low as women have no freedoms in Pakistan especially rural areas and are bound to the men...who mistreat them....and the women cannot divorce them since the society at large shuns them
its probably as low as 1 or 2 percent but it will probably be as high as 50% if women had the same freedom that women in the west enjoy

true..it is quite low but im assuming it must be increasing as women are being educated and becoming aware of their rights. i think more women are getting out of bad marriages today than they were years ago because of social awareness and exposure to freedom.

i always thought it had much to do with the lack of social welfare system. most women are not financially independant, nor do they have the skills to earn their way. many times they end up compromising their lives for the sake of the financial needs of themselves and their children. As mostly in pakistan there is very little concept of providing for children who are in custody of divorced partner. add to that mix the social stigma and zilch social support ,the rate has to be down.
