incompetent cervix

so one of my friend is diagnosed with an “incompetent cervix”
she is 11 weeks pregnant
have weak uterus,have large cervix diameter
n doctor said that she has to go through a cervical surgery(Cerclage) merley a stitch so that the baby wont drop early…
anyone have gone through this problem?
does the surgery helped?
i would be very thankful if anyone help us…

i didnt go through it personally .. but a close friend did 3 times with all 3 children. its really painful at times and most of the time you are on bedrest. but its doable if you just follow dr’s advice to the T.

with teh first 2 kids she went into labour at week 28 and 33 .. with the last kid she had a complete pregnancy and went into labour at 38 weeks.

all 3 kids are ofcourse normal mashallah… in her words… pregnancy is hell but its the easiest deliveries ever :smiley: kids are just waiting to pop out..it sonly a matter of walking up and down the corridoor a few times and they just slip out :cb:

someone from our distant relative went through this , she was also stitched up but Alhamolillah she gave birth to a healthy baby girl. I think this something our doctors have found a solution for ....... offcourse the mom has to go through alot of pain & discomfort but at the end u are blessed with a baby !

i don't think dr. will allow her to travel that too in this situation.

well i asked her she said her doctor allowed her after one month of surgery
but still it seems riskky

i have gone through this cerclage thing twice and now a mother of two beautiful daughters Alhamdulillah. I was diagnosed with incompetent cervix after two 2nd trimester miscarriages.. its a minor procedure and depending on individual case, the treatment is usually accompanied with bed rest but is not painful as such, just a little after surgery and its worth it because there is no other real treatment for the problem. success rate is above 85% if its placed electively and earlier i.e. between 12-14 weeks of pregnancy. Ask your friend to go for it. she wont regret the decision InshaAllah..

^thanks Alhumdulillah she had a surgery n feeling good and i am not letting her do any household work....
i hope she'll be fine with travelling too inshaAllah!

28 weeks means she was 6 months almost? and 33 being almost 7? is delivery alright this early?

Nopes. It's a long stay in the hospital for the very early babies. But the mother heals just fine. So far her kids are doing ok... Don't see any physical or mental handicaps... Mashallsh

One of my cousins had completed her 5th month. The 6th had started but she broke her water bag or I dont know what happened, travelling, cough, sneezing, vomiting, they told different things but anyhow she ended up having her baby expired. Inna lillah.
