Would you let them in on your facebook?
Re: Including colleagues and managers on your facebook..
Lol, I don't think so.
Re: Including colleagues and managers on your facebook..
If they insist, I'll make a separate Facebook account with a few random pictures and people in it.

NA, Just say you call on sick leave. Here you stay home, updating status “What a relaxing day” etc. Next day, you go to work and you 'll get sacked. ![]()
This was happened to a lady in the US.She said , she was unable to go work.At home, she was on fb updating status. Later on,they found her activities on fb and she got sacked.

Re: Including colleagues and managers on your facebook..
i think having a FB [for other than close family members and closest friends] is a BAD idea...period! :)
Re: Including colleagues and managers on your facebook..
Nope i dont like to add my work colleagues on my fb. Even if i do..i would keep it restricted..
Re: Including colleagues and managers on your facebook..
Definitely not a good idea but as supervisors if you want to monitor them, its an easy tool ![]()
Re: Including colleagues and managers on your facebook..
That's always a tricky debate. In my previous job I had a few colleagues who I was close with and my boss on FB. In my current company I'm not really that close with anyone yet, so I haven't added anyone on FB.
I do have an automatic restriction on pictures, status updates, etc. though so that only family and friends can see them.
Re: Including colleagues and managers on your facebook..
Yes Umer, like you said its definitely a very tricky debate .. actually I strongly feel against adding anyone from work on to my facebook .. no matter how close they are for the following reasons:
- you never know a slight slip at your end can become a huge issue at work
- Workplace is very always a fickle place to make friends .. at least here in England it is so .. the safest way is to remain professional at all times , even in friendship with colleagues

That's why my privacy settings on FB are the way they are.

Of course you have to remain professional at all times, but there is always at least a fraction of personal friendship with some people. That's not going to be an incredibly close one (at least it shouldn't) but I can't blend that out completely. One of the reasons why I don't really like my current workplace that much is the fact that it is 100% professional. In that regard the previous one was better.
Re: Including colleagues and managers on your facebook..
I'm upfront with anyone from work... I tell them they're welcome to add me on LinkedIn or Twitter but I only use FB for close family and friends.
Also as Umer pointed out, there are several ways to manage your privacy settings and update feeds so that you're not talking to everybody about everything. For example, I have created a list of contacts on facebook called "Pakistani-Friends".... whenever I talk about politics in Pakistan and don't want to inundate my non-Pakistani friends, I only address the status update to the "Pakistani-Friends" list. You can pretty much make similar lists that exclude your work colleagues in case you want to talk about something that you may not want to appear on their feeds.
Re: Including colleagues and managers on your facebook..
I’ve actually created several of those lists on FB. One of them is called “Guppies”. ![]()
