Incest- What is this world coming to??!!!

Re: Incest- What is this world coming to??!!!

Yep. it's pretty funny if they're Pakistani because most of them are probably the result of such unions.

I'm not saying incest just a western problem, it happens in Muslim/Pakistani socities too and it's wrong BUT cousin-marriage is NOT incest.

Trolling and diverting the discussion is not good.

If you've been on message boards for long, you'd realize that diversion is a fact of life.

I did and Alhamdulillah I'm glad I did, I'm not ashamed of it, I'm strong enough to have my own opnions instead of parroting and aping the majority, unlike some people I do not blindly conform with the cultural norms of the society I live in just to fit in and be accepted.

I'm not saying cousin-marriages are the only way and I've nothing against non-cousin marriages, my parents weren't related, they weren't even the same ethnic group, my dad is Pathan and mum is Punjabi, but I hate brainless little scregs condemning cousin marriages because it's unheard of in the culture they live in.

As long as cousin couples get genetic testing/counselling done before marriage to make sure there's no likelihood of passing on genetic abonormalities there's nothing wrong with such unions.

I'm not the only person to have married his cousin, about 55% of Pakistanis marry their cousins, and it's not only a Pakistani/Muslim thing it also happens in the West, the following is a list of famous Westerners who married their cousins...

Queen Victoria. Only three years after taking the throne, Victoria took her first vow and married her cousin Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. This marriage produced 9 children, and 40 grandchildren and over 1000 total descendants that constitute a sizable portion of the royalty in Europe over the last century and a half.

Charles Darwin. Married his first cousin, Emma Wedgwood

Albert Einstein. Einstein's wife was born Elsa Einstein and was Elsa Loewenthal at the time of their marriage (the second for both of them). They were double cousins - first on his mother's side and second on his father's

Jerry Lee Lewis. Married his second cousin Myra Gale Brown (1953-) in 1957. He was 22 or 23 and she was 13 or 14, depending on which account you believe, and it was his third marriage

Franklin D. Roosevelt. FDR, the longest serving US president in history married his cousin (not a first cousin, however they shared the same last name)

Sir John A. MacDonald. Married his first cousin, Isabella Clark (1811 - 1857)

Jessie James. Maried his first cousin, Zerelda Mims after a nine-year courtship

Christopher Robin. Known to all the world as Christopher Robin for the character in his father's writings, married his first cousin Lesley de Selincourt in 1949

Rudy Giuliani. Married his second cousin Regina Peruggi in 1968. When they separated after 14 years, he used this fact to obtain an annullment from the Roman Catholic church (they did not have a dispensation to marry)

Edgar Allen Poe. Married his cousin Virginia Clemm (1822-1847)

Aemilia Lanyer. Married a musician cousin, Alfonso Lanyer (in October, 1592)

Jean Sebastien Bach. Married his cousin Maria Barbara Bach in 1707. She died 1720. They had seven children including Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl Philipp Emmanuel

H.G. Wells. Married his first cousin, Isabel Mary Wells

Werner von Braun. Married his first cousin Maria von Quirstorp. He was 35, she was 18

Like I said earlier, cousin marriages were very much accepted in Britain and Europe and most of the monarchy married their relatives.

British Royalty

  • Richard III married his cousin Anne Neville.

  • Mary I married her cousin the King of Spain, Phillip II.

  • King William III married his cousin Queen Mary II.

  • George I married his cousin, and his daughter also went onto marry her first cousin.

  • George IV married his cousin.

  • Queen Elizabeth II, and her consort, Prince Philip are also 3rd cousins.

For cousin couples from other European and Asian Monarchies and other notable Westerners who married their cousins please see the link below.

LOL. Sorry your argument of 'fact of life' is not enough justification to be a troll.

Re: Incest- What is this world coming to??!!!

Like cousin marriages, uncles marrying their neices is also commonly practiced.

Various dictionaries define incest as sexual activity between "close" relatives. Ultimately it comes to down to what "close" is. For some father-daughter is close while cousins or uncle-neice is not.

Some research has also been done which proves that offsprings resulting from marriage/sexual relationship between blood relatives can have genetic abnormalities.

And almost everything that can invoke the dad's incestuous intentions.

Ewww.

Marrying uncles/aunties and neices/nephews is wrong.

I'm aware that it happens in India.

It can hardly be compared to cousin marriages.

Can mods please close this thread or move some of the posts to where they belong.. i.e, Religion or Political forum. Thank you.

I am saying incest is much more common in India. :kursi:

No, you are just ignorant.

Re: Incest- What is this world coming to??!!!

narrow minded people making assumptions and generalizations shud just be ignored... attention and reaction is what they try to achieve!!!

[mod] Refrain from Personal attacks and name-calling. [/mod]

[mod]Incest is a social diseas and EVERY society suffered it at different time in history (refer to bible, geeta etc etc and you will find stories about incest), so people drop this naive and "hollier than thou" act and discuss issue in mature manner.
BK1990:- Take this as my 1st & last verbal warning. if you continued with your troll behavior then next time you will recieve warning points.[/mod]

Let me get this straight: you will give him a warning for his behaviour, yet when some people advocate the murder of apostates (take a look at Kinzz's post in the Rifqa thread) you guys look the other way. Explain that to us.

Re: Incest- What is this world coming to??!!!

Incist is terrible, i don't understand why parents do that to their children, they should be punished for life.
Marriage with a cousin is normal in the islamic culture but als I've seen other cultures as well.My GP doctor who is a uk citizen said that her grandmother was married with her cousin. The family is quite educated and they are all doctors.

It seems like you found it offensive, but did you REPORT the post to moderators? or you also looked the other way thinking that it is only mod’s responsibility to take notice?
Bare in mind mods are not here 24/7 and they can’t go to each post in every thread. It is also readers’ responsibility to report ANY post or thread, which they think was over looked by the mods.

PS: Please report the post in question and mods in that section will take the appropriate action. :k:

if its consensual I dont think anyone should be punished.

Genetic disorders from incest result only if it is done for multiple generations, i.e. if blood-related cousins have children together, then the offspring also marry their blood-related cousins (or family) are likely to produce abnormal children. I've never heard of a case of one generational incest producing abnormal offsprings.
