With the Holy Prophets PBUH beloved daughter Fatima married to ALi RA, I dont need to make a comment. There are already contradicting views and its too sensitive topic to talk about without indepth knowledge of the fatwas.

On an additional notes, none of the links show that cousin marriages are discouraged, in any way, in islam, be it culturally, socially or from a medical view point.

There are no contradicting views. Cousin marriage is allowed but not encouraged in islam. People do it for various reasons and convenience.

Agree with your second paragraph. But if it is known that there is a genetic problem in the family then a medical counseling should be done.
