I agree this must happen but our communities keep it hidden, I would say to all parents to be alert, of anyone that comes over, if its relatives for a sleep over, we should be checking where they are sleeping and noone roaming the house at nights.
It's very scary. And we should tell our children (not directly if someone touches you) that if anyone does something to upset them then they must have the courage and confidence to tell their parents everything, and never to be scared as we are there for them.
My friend told me a story of her friend, she said her parents were separated/divorced. The father would get intoxicated and rape her. This girls was in her teens. She really had no one she could reach out to.
There was a book I read called 'Disgraced' or 'Ashamed' or something like that which is an autobiography of a desi girl born and brought up in the UK (can't remember if she was Sikh or Muslim tho), someone on here recommended it and she describes being groped and kissed by her brother in one part of it...
Don't know of anyone personally who has gone through this ordeal tho..
I've got that book, its called Disgraced by Saira Ahmed (not her real name). i remember reading that part and thinking wtff man i couldn't believe that a brother could behave like that towards his sister
It happens in all hte communities ... there was a recent TED talk posted on youtube that discussed how parents sold their 3-5 year old daughters just for some extra cash and how htey were raped multiple times and left to die ... its disgusting and disturbing and i think people should raise their voice about these kinds of atrocities
In the case where father or brother is molesting a girl in the family, usually the mother knows about it and ignores it. That is where the problem begins. BTW its has nothing to do with being muslim or Pakistani. It happens in India and also in Hindus.
Pedophilia and incest runs in every race and ethnicity. you hear cases from everywehre in the world, more so from the western countries ONLy because more things get reported in the media in that part of the world.
I doubt it is so prevalent in Muslim socialite, may be one or two could become big news.
Anyway one must take care and guard against this, i can say about father, but according to Hadith even brother and sister (although Mahram) but not allow to stay alone under one roof.
THe more close the society , the more it is prone to these things.Because the natural requirement are not being met.If any one had watched the program aired a few years ago on GEO TV hosted by Hina Khawaja Biyat called"Uljhan Suljhan" they would know.So many brother and sisters called anonomously live on the program and admitted their mutual relationships.........................!
^ I agree. Every society faces the problem of people who abuse vulnerable individuals, and in a closed society such problems are not exposed as easily because of the extreme taboos of discussing sex and the fact that too often the victim is the one who ends up punished or at a disadvantage if people find out. Also in societies where law enforcement is weak or corrupt people are extremely reluctant to report many crimes, and those involving sexual abuse are especially likely to be covered up.
There's a Palestinian sociologist named Salim Tamari who does really interesting research on Palestinian society. Quite awhile ago (I think back in the late 90s) he was able to conduct some research on incest and sexual abuse in Palestinian families, using double-blind methods that ensured confidentially for those participating. He found that a really large number of Palestinian girls claimed some level of abuse by fathers, uncles, brothers, or male cousins... :(
THe more close the society , the more it is prone to these things.
Between "a closed society" and "the proneness to these things" lies an omnipresent media machine that screams "sex" more than the number of breaths we take in a day. We shouldn't forget this fact.
This is mainly a issue with goras...I dont think desis have to deal with this too much...ofcourse there are animals out there even within our own people, but more often than not, this happens with goras.
Either way its disgusting..which is why its a crime in any civilized society and should always be punished to the fullest extent.

How do you know it happens more in goras?
Just because more things get reported there doesnt mean that it happens the most over there. *If a girl in pakistan gets molested by her own uncle , do you think she will ever report that? Girls don't report such things in pakistan because of their "honour". *
Do you know how many children get molested by their own relatives in pakistan? It happens all the time here. Pedophilia and incest arent limited to just goras. Sick people are everywhere.

Mite I add, the ones that try to voice their problem are either pressured by family or they disappear from the face of the earth.
**it happened in one of the small town is India. there was this family with 8 brothers and 5 sisters. the eldest brother * had 2 wives living in separate dwellings. he had 5 sons and 3 daughters from his first wife and 3 sons and 2 daughters from the other wife. Majid's two families, his parents and his siblings were very close to each other and they visited one another a few times daily.
one of his youngest brothers * used to come more often and since they were very close, they used to hug each other a lot. Anees was particularly close to one of his nieces *. when he used to come to visit she wud spent time with her, always made tea, always sat on the same couch and put her head on his chest [say 60% of the time he visited]. no1 suspected anything coz he was her uncle afterall and he was her maHram [though not encouraged in our religion or culture]. one day the guy got very sick and he claimed that he was seeing jins and he wud vomit blood with whole ilaichi [small green cardamoms]. this lasted 5-6 monthes.
on one fine morning, the family found out in horror that they had eloped. there was such a rage within the family and the girls brothers and step brothers attacked the house of their grandparents, aunts and uncles [one of them was a hoodlum]. now the search was on for Anees and Ghazala. brothers ready to kill both of them coz they thought it was an invasion on their honour which was violated by one of their own uncles.
this enmity is still continuing today after 10 years with sporadic violence within the family. Anees and Ghazala are still on the run. we hear rumors that the girls brothers mudered them both, some say they are living in Bombay and have 3 kids, some say Anees killed Ghazala...ONLY, Allah knows BEST...wallaaho 'aalam bis-sawaab!
SAD! two people ruined a happy family with their selfish and reckless behaviour. :(
the families in joint family systems must be careful, keep an eye on every1.*****

I wouldnt argue that sick people are everywhere. However, I do believe that while there are cases of uncles etc molesting girls and even boys in Pakistan, this is not as widespread as in the gora culture where they think of it as some sick sexual fantasy and there are sickos out here starting 'incest families' with the deliberate intention of using those kids for their own disgusting sexual fantasies.
In Pakistan, there are sickos out there who molest young kids...even their own nephews/neices etc but the difference is that the goras or rather some goras think of this as a cool sexual fantasty, whereas in Pakistan thats not the case...
I dont think Pakistan has this problem as much as the Europeans and North Americans do...goras seem to thrive on this as some kind of twisted act...at the end of the day though, anyone who commits such an act deserves to go to hell.
Hello everyone. It is unfortunate that such incidents do occur even in the Muslim community in the UK. However, such type of incidents i'm sure also happen in Pakistan but because it is a predominatley a Muslim society it is not highlighted in the media as much as it would be in the UK. Good and bad things happen in all societies.
