Inadvertent Kiddy Maloprops

Sometimes quite normal sounding words are real tongue twisters for kids:

Here are a few examples from my own kids:

a) DaddaJaan > (the kids say) JaddaJaan … and I used to say DaDDaDaan (I was worse :bummer:)

b) Oh my goodness > (the kid says) Oh my goodie-nee-ess

c) Kaprey (clothes) > (the kid says) Kuwapar

And there are so many more … like they say kitchen to chicken and vice-versa.

You guys have any good examples … and explain what you do to correct them …

Re: Inadvertent Kiddy Maloprops

lol at ‘my goodeneeess’ :cb:

My 15 months old says ‘gunga’ to everything :bummer:
and ‘coco’ to drinks/milk

When he does though we try and correct him by saying and repeating the actual names of the things

Re: Inadvertent Kiddy Maloprops

my sister’s urdu was really raw coz she was born in tanzania, at school she had to cope with english, gujrati & swahili…at home we had pure urdu so she had many such words that were hilarious.. 1 eg is

knifie (chaaqu) she referred it to as “kaachu” :hehe:

Re: Inadvertent Kiddy Maloprops

My little daughters calls hospital ‘hosti-pital’, gloves are glubs. And once she said ‘fanks’ instead of ‘thanks’ so I corrected her. Ever since then she calls roof ‘ruth’! :hehe:

Even I sometimes confuse chicken and kitchen!

Re: Inadvertent Kiddy Maloprops

My friend's son would always ask for a "toosha" instead of a tissue when he sneezed. so cute!

Re: Inadvertent Kiddy Maloprops

my mum used 2 make my nephew sleep by singing
"ALLAH hoo ALLAH hoo vali tu vali tu"
n from vali he has learned bali n calls my mum bali instead of dadi
n he calls my daughter jara instead of zahra :)
