Everyone has to see the doctor atleast once in their lives, someone people come back feeling satisfied with the consultation, some come back very unhappy.
In your opinion what makes for a positive experience at the doctors? I am not talking about the best heart surgeon because of his skills etc, Im talking about the over all experience in particular communication skills.
It would be great to get some opinions and experiences. And maybe see if opinions vary country to country etc etc .
Re: In your opinion what makes a good doctor consultation?
The one who listens to you and ask questions (asking question might sound silly but it leaves you with a feeling of being actually listened), the one who's not rude and rushed (funny heh, you've to wait upto hours sometimes and you've a max 10 min long consultation with the doc ?!).
That's all that I can think of for the moment, I might add few details later :)
Re: In your opinion what makes a good doctor consultation?
you are a doc yourself and you must be taught how to be a better doc!...for me, the best doctor is the one who is polite, accessible, listens to you, explains to you, advises correctly and does NOT given in to my prescription demands. :)
Re: In your opinion what makes a good doctor consultation?
A consultation where a doctor properly investigates before rushing to prescribing medicines. Also very important to me is that (s)he explains the problem to me. I have yet to have a good experience with doctors, mostly just want you in and out of the office in 1.5 mins. They are mostly over booked, come late and then just want to get done with all the patients. ..and it's all the private practitioners I am talking about which cost an arm and a leg for a single visit.
Re: In your opinion what makes a good doctor consultation?
Good communication skills are an integral part of being a good doctor. (S)he has to be patient and polite at all times and should also explain things in layman terms and avoid medical jargon.
