In the discerning of truth from falsehood

Salaams and Salutation, Peace and Jubilation to All

The topic at hand I have set-up in response to a set of recent activity on GS with regards to certain postulations of end time scenarios, the media and how people have responded to the questions of ‘what if’ nature.

If I am not being clear … then I am purposely being so. I was thwart with indecision whether this thread should be opened up in the philosophy section or the religion section. Seeing that most of the stakeholders in this topic reside in these parts … I thought it best that the religion forum is the best place and the original concerns came from these parts.

I call to the mods … please bear with me on this topic it may become teeth grindingly inapt for the more sensitive of our attendees but hopefully it should provide an answer to our brother Hyperactive for his recent concerns with regards to Isa (AS).

I didn’t have the benefit of reading the post by Hyperactive or any others for that matter the whole thread was deleted before I could set eyes on it. Now I see the feedback that Hyperactive has left has also been put behind bars.

In taking Faisals advice and widening the issue it has been seen as important to discuss the issue of rooting to truth from falsehood in this day and age.

I want to start with wisdom …

Asking the right questions … It is important to ask the right question … if brother Hyperactive were to ask his question again then this would be the place for it. Please mods … if something that can be said that can benefit people then let this continue …

Br. Psyah, a bit confused I am (sound like Yoda). What is the issue with Hyperactive?

Re: In the discerning of truth from falsehood

^Please read this thread by Bro Hyperactive.

Is Osama Bin Laden the Second coming of Jusus(As)?

And Also

To Whom it may concern

It’d be difficult for me to summarize everything in one post.

Re: In the discerning of truth from falsehood

Shukriya … parhta hoon …

Re: In the discerning of truth from falsehood

Peace again

A correction is in order. The threads are locked not deleted.

Where is Hyperactive when you need him? Those questions ... Ask the right questions.

And no I am not going mad! ... The bin Laden question is an important one it was missed under the sensitivity of Isa (AS) - his second coming.

Yoda I am not, but there are phantoms without menace and menace without premise. Why is it that people don't not misunderstand me?

Rule Number 1: Clarify the premise - Observed phenomenon .... Hyperactive says ... perhaps I should have named the thread ....

more later inshaAllah ...

Re: In the discerning of truth from falsehood

After reading the LOCKED thread. It seems to me people only read the topic and than milked through the orignal post and started bashing the poster. Than the later posters jumped on the bandwagon. After reading all the posts I don't think the thread should have been closed unless there was something else going on in the background (PMs) ;)

Anyway I think the poster wanted to discuss OB's part in the light of media being so free and painting what ever they (media) wants people to see instead the truth. People are very sensitive about religion specially Muslims and with so much hate about OB in Muslim countries (which I think it is all one side story due to media) and no one knows the truth people are just following the famous saying "might is right". So I think the poster chose the wrong example by giving Prophet Isa (as) example he/she should have stick with the german/jew example. I am sure the outcome would have been a "little" different.

I enjoyed the thread it was a good discussion but too bad it was closed without any reason.

my 2 cents...

Re: In the discerning of truth from falsehood

:salam:

Went through the first thread. I don’t think the posters intention was to compare the personalities of Jesus PBUH and OBL, though a little prudence would have been nice when comparing any aspect of two completely obtuse personalities. I think poster wanted to highlight the power of Propaganda machine and it has always been effective even during the time of the Prophets and Jesus PBUH is also glowing example of such victimization, Jews as well and in the posters view maybe OBL as well. I think that was supposed to the topic of discussion, very poor job by the Mods in handling it. They should have put the thread back on track and deleted what posts necessary. I think it would have been a good point to argue though both sides would fail to present any comprehensible evidence of their POV.

Re: In the discerning of truth from falsehood

Peace bro teaser

That is perzactly what me thinks too ... pity I can't get Hyperactive to come here and contribute I would like to discuss the Bin Laden issue. And it is an issue ... I have come across some people who would do anything for him, and yet others who would have nothing to do with him ... why do I get the feeling that I'm the only one who doesn't know Bin Laden?

Wa’alaikumsalaam

What is our situation? How many of us still believe in the second coming? How many of us are weiry of going against public opinion? How many of think we know Bin Laden?

What can we do sift out truth from falsehood in this age of lies? Opinions will be much appreciated … but I have few pointers meself … JazakAllahKhair for reading …

Re: In the discerning of truth from falsehood

So please elaborate on your theory?

Our situation is bad, we have become morally degenerate and backward.

I at least believe in the second coming though I sometimes do wonder how does it correlate to the present time.

Public opinion regarding what?

Re: In the discerning of truth from falsehood

going back where one came from, seem to be not so interesting or the burden of ill deeds is so much to carry that one would rather suffer the grind on earth.
either way, faith calls for resurrection and the day of judgment. its prophesy has been made in the book as well.
current situation of the world and mankind is anything but viable for a continual growth and development spiral which is evolutionary and not evolutionary any longer.
when something expand so much, it ultimately converges on itself, that is one physical rule of the rules about universal expansion and its ultimate diffusion.
so, i would say that both from spiritual and from physical aspects, second coming is not a coming any more, but it is here already in a symbolism, at least.
discerning the signs, of course is in the hands of the believers and the true knowledge seekers.

best,
Dushwari

Re: In the discerning of truth from falsehood

Peace Sister Dushwari and Bro USResident

Please let not the constructs of language define for you what the second coming is. According to the core beliefs of Muslims it is a truth a direct prophesy with no allusions to metaphor.

Jesus (AS) is alive and is due to return and there are different reasons why this can be seen as the case.

The argument being presented here is not of how but rather of what is needed to be able to see it when it does arrive.

The very first thing is to know what we are looking for. This will require ground work. It can even be considered a duty for us today to clue up ourselves regarding the second coming. Then the raising of arguments is not performed in a vacuum.

One link I have stumbled across is the link of the beads of sweat that perspired like blood dripping from the forehead of Isa (AS) when in the Bible it talks about his prayer for his 'cup' to be taken. That he didn't want to be killed. A reference to him returning in the same state that he went. And in the hadith that his hair would be lank (oil wet) upon his arrival. It not only links the hadith with the Biblical reference to the image of Christ (AS) but also indicates that soon after this prayer was the true time when the Ascension took place, prior to the arrest on the Mount of Olives.

We need to know who we are talking about if we want to be able to recognise Isa (AS) today in this age of lies. (Propaganda machine)

Now comes the Bin Laden issue. That this 'phantom' represents all that is religious within Islam according to the magic of the media forcing the dichotomy of thoughts and beliefs. For the Muslim who is instructed to question the disbelievers do we go the extra mile and question the 'phantom's that these disbelievers have created for us? Bin Laden is their strawman, not the man, but the concept.

Just as we cannot possibly call Bin Laden a terrorist we also cannot possibly say anything else about the man. The reason being is that we do not know him. Those who claim otherwise are the people deserving of interrogation and analysis. How can they know him when the world are searching for him. But can anyone ever find a 'phantom'?

We cannot live upon a concept of Bin Laden any more than a conceptual second coming. There are things to occur that will occur before our eyes and that will be a time to wait for. Those who have lost hope find comfort in analogies that is what happened to the supporters of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, to this day they say to me .... in taunt ... "you wait for the Mahdi ... for us he has already come". But when we see the hadith manifesting before us there will be an eyebrow or two raised.

Only when people lose hope, a time when he will be least expected, is when Mahdi will be sighted and soon after Isa (AS) too will be sighted.

There is one hadith that points to the fact that these are the times or at least they are now possible. The hadith that refers to the battlefield that will be so fierce that a bird will not be able to fly from one end to other without being killed. The only way this can happen is when there are large scale weapons of mass destruction in use. Think long and hard about this hadith and there are more ... like the mountains of gold around the Euphrates. Black gold is the major reason why people are dying in that region today.

About the idea that prophets were rejected, will Isa (AS) be rejected, we are rejecting Bin Laden ... what if he is a good man? ... This is all aimless talk. If we know our hadiths regarding Isa (AS) there will be no choice in the matter people wil become Muslim upon the reach of his breath and upon the horizons of his vision. He will arive to combat the nemesis of the age, which will be lies and confusion, how better a way to do this than to bypass the process of debate and discussion? We have had long enough to discuss soon will come a time when choice will be overrun by power of miracle.

If knowing Bin Laden for being a good man is important to us, then all will be revealed in good time, possibly in the life of humanity, but most certainly in the Aakhira. If his mission if he is still alive serves a reason for us, then we need to make sure that we know him in person. If you cannot claim this then we need to be aware of those who do claim this. That their motives are not led by a concept to counteract the concepts of the West.

Bin Laden is the representative that they (enemies of Islam) have given to all who oppose their views.
The radical elements agree with them and assume him by painting Bin Laden on their T-Shirts (metaphor)

Can people see this happening???

Rule 2 - Get in-depth knowledge about the subject matter

Re: In the discerning of truth from falsehood

:salam:

Interesting philisophical analysis however Bro a common thread running thought this analysis is at best vague. Bin laden maybe the political and moral metaphor of those predictions that will precede the second coming of Jesus PBUH however let us examine it by refering a hadith at a time here and then analyze its manifestation as seen in todays world of illusions. Would be an interesting discussion then. Please proceed.
