Demand is explicit while expectation is implicit.

correct. also demands are often times, rights, where as, expectations are values ascribed to being associated with someone, or having someone who owes back something, act as an 'obliged' person.

^I object! Demands are not necessarily rights. They may appear as rights to the one demanding.
