In preparation for summer festivities...

…I want to figure out what to do with my hair. I’ve got about 100 weddings events to attend.

Many of you probably have similarly busy summers. What are you planning to do with your summer hair?

  1. I’ve set up an appointment for May 21st for a trim and shaping. I want to keep my hair long for now, but need it shaped in layers.

  2. Should I get highlights? My ends have highlights still, but in general I have very dark hair that looks almost black. Should I get highlights for the summer? I’d probably get burgundy or a deep brown. Nothing too drastic.

  3. Any suggestions for formal hair styles? I don’t want the same hair for everything. How should I style it? Here are the outfits…
    Wedding 1 (family friend)
    -mehndi: shalwar kamiz
    -wedding: no idea

Wedding 2 (first cousin)
-mayun: churidaar suit or light blockprint gharara
-wedding: heavy gharara

Wedding 3 (relative and brother-in-law)
-giving bari: shalwar kamiz
-mehndi: green gharara
-wedding: heavy gharara
-valima (afternoon event, partially outdoors): sari

Wedding 4 (very close family friend)
-most likely a gharara

Yes! No tips for me. :bummer:

Now it’s your fault if my hair looks crappy. :grumpy:

Re: In preparation for summer festivities...

Go for different styles so you have a different look at each event! Leave it down one time, straight sleek look. Try curls one time. Try loose curls for a wavy look one time. Do an updo one time. Do a half updo one time with flowers. Wear a paranda one time! Get some nice hair accessories to jazz up your style and match your outfits. I dont know what your hair looks like or what suits you, so just try different things and come up with some fresh styles so you dont look the same at every wedding! Good luck. Im sure you'll look fantastic, your outfits sound great!

I need to figure out what the do with my hair this summer too. Its long now but Im thinking Im ready for a big change, cut it really small. Im still debating whether I should dye it..I never have in my whole life! Maybe I will just do highlights..or maybe leave the color and just cut it real short

Re: In preparation for summer festivities...

Wow you sure love your ghararas! Lovely.

As for hairstyles, with a salwar kameez, I think depending on whether your going to be wearing heels or 'kuseh'.. you could either go for the modern light curls in you hair OR the eastern plait, nicely jazzed up or something. As for the ghararas, I think nicely layered straight hair would look good or if thats too boring for you, clip it half way or go for a nicely done bun, leaving a long fringe sidewayes or something.

Sorry, I really am not good at this but hey I did try my best! :)
All the best & have fun at the weddings.

Re: In preparation for summer festivities...

Thanks for the ideas, guys. What do you think about highlights? My hair is almost black and my skin is pretty pale. And I can't decide if I want the highlights for some variety, or if the one-tone look is better.

Re: In preparation for summer festivities...

hmm as with highlights..if they suit you then i think its a nice idea cause itll be a nice change for summer..but only thing is youd be having to keep up with maintainig roots and be careful of them going brassy in the sun? i dont know if you have an issue with that but i do :(

Re: In preparation for summer festivities...

^ I've only had that issue when I got my highlights done at a cheap place. They bleached my hair, the color came out lighter than I wanted, and it faded to an orangy tone. When I went to another medium-priced place, the girl knew exactly what to do and I felt they looked nice.

Re: In preparation for summer festivities...

Go for a dark shade Sahar..to compliment u're naturally dark hair. Try a roasted brown or coffee.
