Punjab has said many times it accepts for KP and Sindh to have the control of Kalabagh, but, some politicians are not ready to listen specially those from Sindh.

Dam would have made a difference. We all know the cycle of flood and drought that happens. No one can argue that dams need to be built, even if not KB, new dams need to be built, since the storage capacity of already built has appreciably decreased.

^^ Yes, KP (Kalam, Upper Swat, Charsada) might have not been saved, but Down-Stream and Sindh in Particular could have been saved and benefited for few years...
Firstly the devastation in K-P is proportionately worse, in other areas at maximum 80% of fertile land has been destroyed in K-P it's 100%. Secondly in terms of death toll 80% to date are from that area so yes those smaller dams which nobody has objected too would have saved a lot of lives and benefitted for years and more importantly that water would not have ever reached to the level of kalabagh. So as per the topic of this threat KBD would not have saved lived
Much the same could be said for Bhasha dam (again no objections from sindh or k-p)..also more importantly kalabagh dam would have flooded parts of nowshera so if there was an extra amount received on top whatever was left would have been destroyed as well..the question should instead be directed to die hard kalabagh dam supporters why wasn't munda dam done ?

a side point another reason for flooding is heavy silting of existing dams and canals..

So the conclusion of this discussion is don't build anything, destroy what we already have, pray to god/beg other countries for help and everything will be fine.

Bhai Zakk Sahib the big objection in the past was that the very fertile lands of Nowshehra would come under water.........
well even without the Dam they are under water now!
If a dam was going to be built there would be provisions made for preventing croplands of Nowshehra and even down stream lands.
No one who supports Kalabagh Dam has any objections to more Dams or embankments down stream or upstream of Kalabagh Dam.
We already have Guddu Barrage and Ghulam Mommad Barrage downstream of Kalabagh, seems they are not doing there job.
So in addition to building just Kalabagh Dam, Pakistan should also build embankments to prevent flooding all along the banks of Indus.
People in other parts of the World plan for the 100 year Flood.
Now we in Pakistan have seen in our life time what can happen.
So in my opinion None of us who are witnessing this devastation should block projects that will save lives in the future.
