I want to cook something challenging like a mini project to take up some time in the day.
something which requires some technical skill.
Any ideas please? Thanksss ![]()

Re: In need of a challenging recipe
Bhagaray Baingan can take a good part of the day . I used a recipe from some internet site , it took a lot of time to make them they turned out finger licking good , but that was the last time I tried to make this challenging dish.
Re: In need of a challenging recipe
You can bake something. Some thing which requires lots of kneading and rolling etc like pastry dough etc.Or something like bread which requires you to leave it for a while to make the yeast work.
Re: In need of a challenging recipe
cook haleem all by yourself ..no shaan or national masala…should take majority part of your day ![]()

Re: In need of a challenging recipe
Try to cook Paya curry - would take more then 20 hours :)
Or Beef wellington :)
Re: In need of a challenging recipe
yes, try baking. How about a croquembouche? I was watching a programme the other day and that looks like it wold take 1/2 a day plus to do! You have to make a tower of profiteroles, caramel, spun sugar, base etc. At least when to make it you will be impressed by the tower and then you can have the satisfaction of knocking it down and eating it:)
Or google "raymond blanc kitchen secrets" I think he has some technically challenging recipes such as cafe creme dessert, I think so anyway.
how about something like making your own ravioli with a new filling that you have invented and making the pasta sauce for ravioli from scratch.
It's really good you find cooking enjoyable, i find it a chore.

I agree. I only made them once too because I remember it being a 4 hour long process.
Re: In need of a challenging recipe
try this recipe of cherry cheesecake
http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/fresh-cherry-cheesecake-bars-50400000113755/
it took a few hours to do this and it turned out really good. I am not a cheese cake fan so won’t be making it again.

Re: In need of a challenging recipe
Here is a challenging recipe for you: http://www.publicradio.org/columns/splendid-table/recipes/renaissance_lasagne_with_hand-rolled_pasta.html
You make the pasta, you make the ragu for filling, you put the lasagna together. You may want to skip the white wine (substitute with chicken broth, I would say.) You’ll probably want to find something besides prosciutto (maybe find something kosher) and use beef sausage instead of pork. You might need to figure out what are the spices in typical Italian sausage, and season ground beef with them.
And this is not a typical lasagna – not a tomato and cheese based layered thing. I haven’t made this, but it sounds very interesting. I’d love for you to make this and tell us how it comes out…
