Not every MIL thinks that. As of now, I for one know my mum's going to be super happy if a girl somehow manages to get married to a guy as 'nakhretu' as me. Honestly, it just depends on who you're dealing with.
How can a girl win over her mil? Be cooperative, patient, forgiving (since we all tend to make mistakes) and realize she's helped made your husband to be what he is today. You'll be alright.

Apparently the emphasis was put on 'Love marriage and with it comes the mutual decision to get hitched. The wife can be equally blamed if she chooses a husband who shall disappoint or ends up being the 'loser'
