Okay, I know we see many posts/ threads in here about issues and run-ins with the mother-in-law, sister-in-laws etc and I can understand this is a natural predicament within the desi culture, but I’d like to hear from those who have a great relationship with their in-laws…

i get on very well with my in laws. my mum in law is actually my phopo as well, which helps i think. i love her a lot, she's a very smart lady, she's pretty open minded compared to a lot of my other relatives too i think. when in pakistan i spend a lot of time hanging out with her lol. My dad in law has a big heart and is very easy to get on with too. i have one brother in law and sister in law, both younger than me and i get on with them too, particularly the sister in law, she's adorable :)
i try not to have too many expectations from them or to let small potential issues (cos no relationship is perfect) nag at me becuase i know i am not the most perfect daughter in law, but they have accepted me for who i am and vice versa annnd we're all happy. lol.

I have a good relationship with my MIL. I can't say she's been harsh with me in the least on any account. I check in on her often, I call her up or she calls me to see if everything is well. I try always to take her something she likes. For instance, she likes a particular mithai, so I will always take some with me when I see her. Just a little bit, it is the thought that counts and she seems to appreciate that thought so far.
My father in law and I mashallah get along amazingly well too. In both cases I have given each a lot of respect, but have recieved a lot of love in return too which most people dont seem to get
At the end of the day, they are inlaws and you have to remain diplomatic and proper with them, just in case things go wrong. But if you walk the walk, it does work out well. :) It's working well enough for me so far. Can't complain at all about the inlaws so far!

Why does all these happen in the first place between In-laws??? I mean why ? I don't think it will happen when I get married. cos if it does imma be really pissed off.

I get along great with my in-laws. I dont live with them, or even in the same city. But I call them twice a week, and they call a few times a week. We dont have long conversations, but we still talk, and I inquire about them and their well-bring. When we visit their city, we stay with them, and I have no issues what so ever with them. I have 3 sister in laws who I get along with, we always go out for breakfast or lunch when me and my husband are in town. I have 1 brother in law, and he is very reserved, so he sticks to himself, but he is very respectful of me, as I am his older brothers wife.
I dont think every single person doesnt get along with their in-laws. Everyone has some issues from time to time, but I dont think all in-laws are so bad.
And I have to say, my own bhabi is a very lucky girl! My parents love her, me and her have become good friends, and my younger brother treats her like his sister. My mom celebrates her birthday, anniversary and whatever other occasion there is, and always makes sure that she feels like she is part of the family! And we spoil their kids like crazy, because they are the first kids on our side of the family!!!

I do. I try to see my MIL as an average woman not as my MIL. I don't agree with my ILs approach to many things but have always treated them with respect and gotten respect in return.
We decided very early on that that is what I needed from them and that's what they needed from me. Nothing more, nothing less.
Also I give them credit that they have kept their opinions to themselves and have never meddled in my business.
