If we choose to conveniently take "God" out of the equation when it comes to marriage, then I say lets us also remove the word "God" from our currency.
therefore instead of In God We Trust, President Obama should also change it to the Title of this thread! He will get more Gay Votes!

well i do agree the in god we trust part needs to go. it wasn’t part of the founding fathers’ plan, and it goes against their spirit of the nation. it was added much later in 1956. time to scrap this god association with civil society. polygamy, slavery, wife burning etc may be sanctioned in different societies but they are all backwardly practices.

If the basis for your pro gay marriage argument is that two consenting adults can do whatever they want so long as it doesn't harm another soul, why can't a man marry more than once especially if the first wife is willing to compromise? Or what about cousin marriages? What about incest? Surely, they shouldn't be social taboos in the so-called open-minded society as long as it's consensual, right?
Conservatives have long used this tactic - equating same sex relationships with incest (and animal sex). Though I think you are playing devils advocate :)
Ughh let's leave the bechare animals out of this for a minute and answer my question.... take God out of equation and who are you to tell an adult why he can't have sex with multiple partners or another consenting adult whether the other adult is a cousin, a family member, a stranger (prostitution), or of the same gender? Whoever gave you the authority to set the moral standards?
if polyandry is permitted then yes, it would be okay, otherwise it goes against the idea of equality - restricting this freedom of multiple legal partners to just men. as far as i know, there isn’t any significant number of people interested in this.
as for cousin marriages and incest, this might be one place where you’d be happy in some parts of america.
